An Early Attempt At Making Xp Look Like Osx

I found this Screen Shot on my old computer

Before Object Dock, MobyDock, or Y'z Dock, I tried to emulatr OSX on my old Pentium 366Mhz w/ Windows 98

The embarressing results are here, using a Desktop X theme thats kinda Aqua-ish

Drag Link to Address Bar for ScreenShot!

I thought it looked good then is the sad thing

Yeah, that was probably April-May of last year

Computer was from abuout 97

I did it after seeing my friend's G4 Power mac, he got OSX the first week it came out and I liked it alot

I now have a new computer with a more realistic OSX style

Doesn't look that bad, I could find screenshots of now-a-day desktops that are faker than that looks

#8033

It really doesn't look that bad in all honesty.

I've seen some more recent stuff, I'm not going to post urls, that left me shaking my head in disbelief! That happens to include some of my own work!

The whole PC thing...., wasnt really compatible with my life style.

i remember earlier last year, like even in the end of 2001, i started skinning the repulsive win32, and when i moved to LA, i first saw the os 10.1 i thought i was going nuts (same thing when i first heard nirvana for the first time by the way).

anyway, i remember the first releases of windowblinds i was able to make windows background transparent and i swear i always thought i had the best desktop ever.

So i was like always showing off screenshots to my roomate and then whenever i had a chance to glance a lil more on his osx, i realized its hopeless unless there will b a thorough change to bring some hope into win32 and with the winME i had, things wouldnt prove any good.

So i switched to OSX and i never looked back. :D

now i can have the best desktop ever, aqua running freshly as a low-level OS no 3rd party shmaparty, no bugs, no crashes, originality, no games, a fully featured OD, YZ, MOBY in their v4.3a, iTalk v3.5 etc. Its just boss!!!

Hi, im goku and im a world saviour.

See it bigger

Is amazing... I didn't use to use DesktopX because it was too heavy for my old TNT 2 Card :D and I thought that i had the best aqua theme, LOL ;)

I didn't really get into Mac style skins until I saw BBX which was the killer skin to me that I really wanted to make a win version.

Then from there I saw some of the third party skins coming out for OSX and I was hooked. Before then I was emulating Linux in particular the Enlightenment window manager.

Here are some of my old shots most where taken on windowsXP RC1 (I didn't keep most of my 9x shots from before that but they looked similar):

I know they are not OSX related but they where what I was using over a year ago. I was already full swing into interface emulation coming from years of experience. (I started around 97-98 with WB and litestep) I was a part of the litestep community and "axis solutions" a group dedicated to bringing the look and feel of *nix to win to get people interested in *nix.

:P he he he... a trip down memory lane... ;):D

then and now. :D

I don't think it looked too bad before. This was before any of the docks came out when we used DesktopX.

Hey, could someone tell me how I could make my XP desktop look exactly like OS X without having to buy any third-party software? (Meaning for free.) -Thanks
