Mirc Icon Bar Update To 6.12

First a quick story:

The other day, I finally got my hands on a copy of AquaIRC (originally by Pack and Jordon). I thought that it was visually very nice, had some great features, but seemed to be based on an older version of mIRC. While this normally would not be problematic, in recent months, there have been some security concerns with older versions, and some servers/channels prevent access to users who are using out-of-date software.

I'm not going to go as far as to ask Pack and Jordon to update their software, but I have taken the time to update their icon bar so that it now conforms to the latest version of mIRC 6.12 (see screenshot below) and would like to release it for others. This is a public request for permission to do so and also a little teaser since I may be willing to do some mods and aquification of the newer versions of mIRC if there is interest. I'm going to be sending Pack a PM and an email but I thought that this might also help get the ball rolling.

just wanted to make it VERY clear that this is all pack and jordon's work, and none of my own. they did the icons and resized and all of that in the first place, all i did was move them around to match the new placements in the newest versions. i liked it and thought that others may want to use a combo of aquafied icons with the new mIRC.

I don't know what all aquairc changed, but if it's just the toolbar, no reshacking is required. mIRC for quite a few versions now allows you to change the toolbar with any .bmp.

EDIT: Looking at those icons, I don't think they made the majority of them. And at most all they did was add a # sign on some of them. So I don't know if i'd really consider it "their" work.

That's what I worked on - the toolbar - so you could just right-click on the bar and load my updated .bmp in.

I think that's a valid point, but as I opened up reshack to get thier .bmp out of it, then edit-copy-pasted into a new bar in photoshop (rearranging the order), I wouldnt really feel right about just letting it loose. I have never dealt with pack before, but I have seen some other people in the community get really really pissed when others have done things that seem innocuous and I personally don't want to fall into that trap. I don't even know how active he (pack) is anymore, but wouldn't want to anger him regardless.

If there is no advancement with this, I'll get some stock icons and re-do a new bar. I thought that some people would like the familiarity of the AquaIRC buttons, but there hasn't been too much response to this [although sanji and megabit will be the first ones to get it, whatever "it" may be], so I may just go ahead and use/make some different icons. Anyways, don't hold your breath, but I'm planning on making progress with this one way or another.

Ya, some people in this community get really pissed when someone releases stolen-stolen (mac) icons. It still amazes me. I'm no artist tho. So i guess I don't have much say. It's one thing if the person personally created the icons, and another if they stole it from apple directly. Or another person for that matter. It's like buying stolen goods. You didn't steel them. You just picked them up off the street. It's still illegal, but c'mon now.
