Address Book Beta3

I need further investigation with CSV import ...

it has been freshly implemented, and sofar only tested by me...

I tested with Windows Address Book generated-file, and it seems to work fine, I mean I can import all data from my WAB

To export your data from previous Address Book :

export individual vCards (I know it's a pain)

or

export all cards in one CSV file

but please consider that beta3 will not import group vcard (a vcard with many cards in it), I'll implement that later.

otherwise, concerning manifest file, and beep error, I don't know what's wrong :(

I got a beep and nothing happened too.

READ THE THREAD!!!!

I said to delete the manifest.

THEN try it again...

I input my CSV into WAB, exported, then tried to import to AB... still doesn't work for me.

Oh well, just going to have to anticipate the next release!

How many vCards do you have?

I exported then imported over 120 myself. Only took a few minutes too.

It works wonders, you should try it

#92741

I don't have too many, I've already imported them all.

I just like using CSV files because I made a neat looking icon for them...

The vCard imports didn't take too long anyway.

#92779

Excuse me, Mods?

Why isnt this in the news section?

#92811

I'm sure they're waiting for proper CSV importing before posting!

BTW, the rest of this app works quite well. Great job Jib!

Multi-group association, good stuff.

#92849

OK today is the day of CSV testing :)

I will export a CSV file from WAB, The Bat!, and Mozilla Thunderbird, and from Address Book Beta 2... and I'll import them in Address Book to see what's happening

Please give me by mail the exact problem, and If possible the csv file you try to import ....

CSV import was not really easy to implement, cause every software export CSV in a different way :( and we need to associate your fields to Address Book fields

:D nice work, man.

a bug like that in the ROOT: when I've done adding a new group, sometimes my newly-added cards go missing, while another exact copy which is one of previous saved cards shows up.

however, I can avoid encountering this bug by close-and-run-it-again process, sth like the save/load ;)

I just found this when looking for something to transfer my contacts from Outlook 2K3 to my iPod, thought you guys might get a kick out of it and could use it to transfer your contacts/vCards over to Jib's AB:

I was waiting until the final release. Having it on the front page news for every beta release would kill the enthusiasm when the final is released. That and I was not online for the past two entire days.

thats a fair argument, i guess we should leave it up to Jib, what are your thoughts?

#92986

thanks for the great app jib, works fine for me

#92998

bad argument...

this is a whole new release which needs a fair amount of testing due to the new vCard handling.

Beta or not, he needs people to try it out

#93039

nevermind

thought i saw a bug, but i didn't, i just woke up and i guess im seeing things

#93141

Agreeing with duckie... every beta release should be on the frontpage. Some people only look at the front page every day, and this way maybe they would test the program ya know. You post news about betas for things like desktop x, windowblinds, trillian 2, etc... If programs hit final, and dont continue being updated, then people lose interest. ok im done

#93582

Is there any way to delete a picture from a card, and return it to the default blank area?

#94146

1. Go to Application Data -> Address Book -> Photos

2. delete the desired photo.

That should do it.

#94177

Oh, yea, thanks - so simple, yet so hard to think of.

#94271

next version will include a "clear" menu....

otherwise, I'm gonna work on bugs fixing, to release the first RC version.... (no more beta). Then we'll be ready for version 1.0 :)

I encourage everybody to contact me about bugs and suggestions, as they are really useful for me !!

Thx everyone

#94334

Did you sort out the "" issue in the Yahoo CSV Jib?

I've fogotten to answer this :shy:

Actually, my first beta release was pretty stable... Where some people release 1.0 then 1.1 and then 1.2, I'd prefer releasing 1.0 beta 1, beta 2 and beta3

Next version would be RC and then 1.0

I let mods / admin / news poster decide what is the best solution ... I need people to debug beta version, but it's true it's not a final release (but almost !)
