i forget how to remove the recycle bin from the desktop, i believe you have to change something in the registry....am i even close? and what do you have to change. well thanks
Recycle Bin
Have you tried using Microsoft's Powertoys? In particular, look at TweakUI, which lets you customise loads of little features of Windows that are usually done via registry hacks.
run -> gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Desktop
Enable "Remove Recycle Bin icon from desktop"
No extra software or apps to install..
ooooh thank you uhohzitzcooky
cant find gpedit.msc :cry:
you type it in "run".. it should pop up if u have windows xp
only if you hav the pro version, otherwise i suggest you go to tweakxp.com for more tweaks.
thanks, i got tweakui, really easy,![]()
Double-click on the attached file. It will create an option in you folder options (in explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View Tab > "Show Recycle Bin icon on the desktop".

That .reg file isn't a program - it's just a saved registry key.
It's a native part of Windows' registry functionality.
but he had to make (code) the key...right

Not really. He just had to write down the location of the entry and its new value.
Actually, I found the .reg file at kelly's korner. I'd advise anyone looking for nifty little tweaks to visit.
