From Emaculation- Objectdock .85 Is Coming Soon

In case any of you didnt see this, Clockwise posted this at Emaculation yesterday

I got a new ObjectDock beta today, that includes a few new (very neat) features. I can't tell exactly which features are new, since I sort of skipped the last one. This is what I am certain (have been told) is new: Memory usage is better, a new magnification mode has been added, which "has a greater and less linear effect, " and the dock can be either "always-on-top, always-on-bottom, or normal-zorder (e.g. goes on top when activated)."

A screenshot of the dock is here.

A screenshot of my memory-usage is right here.

This build should be made public very soon. I will try to write more about the features of the last few public releases soon.

Yay, it will be able to pin to the desktop and use less memory

Looks Wonderful

Very accurate

Any word on an official public release date??

#7966

wow looks sweet, cant wait to download it

#7973

looks cool. any idea if the trash thing has been fixed yet? (being able to have it on the far right past the running apps)

#7980

Actually, I would like to see added to the dock the function of dragging a cd icon to the trash and it ejecting the CD

#7982

Should be released this week. Build is ready, just waiting for the project manager to return so we can get an official release together ;)

machineHED: Nope, trash positioning issue hasn't been addressed yet.

ztiworoh: Hrm i think that was even in the last release. if not, it is in this one. You can drag the CD icon or even just a shortcut to it say that is on your desktop... and instead of deleting the shortcut, etc OD will eject the CD drive. Try it out - i'm not lyin! Only works on your primary CD drive if u have more than one though i believe. :)

Goku: nice comparative screenshot ;)

Nope, im running version .75 and it doesnt work for me, using shortcuts or the drive from My Computer

It does nothing to the actual drive and just deletes the shortcuts

#7988

When are we gonna see a time delay autohide? Ity'd be nice to be able to set it to autohide after, say, 5 or 10 seconds, instead of it autohiding on mouseout.

I hope the next beta is released real soon, version .75 has expired and I am tired of setting my date back. Anyone know how to resolve this without changing the date, Please let me know ????

Thanks

#7999

Correction, I checked my date on my PC and it was set to June 2003. Sorry for the post. I inserted my head in a hole that was a little tight, and cut off circulation.

Sorry !

wow jeff | looks almost /97% as the real thing! impressive.

I, for one, just use od as a replacement for quicklaunch - and i feel, in .75 that the small arrows, on current open apps slow the dock down and since it isnt needed, would be nice to have an option to turn that off.

using .70 'casue of that {:o\

just a suggestion | i think its easy to do ô_O ?

thanks for this app | its great |.

respect.

Jeff,

.85 getting close to 1.0? Just how does one become a tester for OD. Just wondering?

#8012

In the objectdock folder and in the Running Indicators folder, just rename or delete the picture (should be named DEFAULT). That should stop the indicator from coming up. You can also change the indicator to something else if you want, just name it default.

#8013

I really hope they fixed the folder shortcut not opening problem.

#8017

a friend suggested a really good idea. have a 'lock' option, that when turned on, you can't drag or add any icons off the dock. because sometimes you accidentally drag an icon off, and it deletes it, then you have to go back and re-add it and change the icon again. this has happened to me many times... and i think it could be useful if it's possible.

#8018

Yes! Global lock and local icon lock is a great idea.

#8022

hmm that is pretty good idea... good thinking.. i did that once.. i clicked on the icon but moved my mouse and accidently deleted that icon... lol

I don't know about you but the e-mail indicator is a must on the e-mail icon. Choosing which e-mail account to show or telling me waiting e-mails on ALL accounts (pop3, imap & HTTP).

And I never saw a real trash indicator (even in DX) showing how much space (in %) is used in trash.

Objectdock MobyDock Y'z Dock

Objectdock Is The Best!

contrasutra - u r right. renaming the default.png under the Running Indicators folder prevents the indicator from showing up in the dock.

but

the problem remains 'cause despite the ind. aint showed the app still uses it (im not a programer - 99% certain of what im talking - that is what i feel 'cause performance is the same.)

btw - thanks for the tip anyway.

respect.

aniba!
