Flash
Flash is awesome if used right. By that i mean quick loading and simple enough.
flash is a pain, its very annoying for people on 56k imo (still the great majority of people).
btw, perhaps the question should be reworded? you might see flash and instinctively vote no. >.<

Flash is "awesome" if done perfectly, and to good effect (such as that on HomestarRunner.net - "It's .com!"
).
If it's not done perfectly, however, it's the most god-awful, unsightly, bandwidth-munching, evil piece of rubbish ever created by the hand of man. <_<
Well, how would it be implemented. If it is just as an image, I say no because I don't like things that move on a web-site, it is distracting.
Flash is great. I've been working long time with it.

I aggree completely with the homestarrunner comment, that is an incredibly well done site, that continues to amaze me. But a few nice looking flash things like the menu at studiotwentyeight.
Flash should only be used by trained professionals (kol of studiotwentyeight, and Mr. Rad-E8 for example). If you put Flash into the wrong hands, you will get the hampster dance (a total rip off of Frier Tuck from the Disney's Robin Hood in my opinion
).
I vote for Flash, but minimalistic. Get some proffessional to do it so we won't even notice it. We can test it for a week and if it's slower than AquaXP, then forget it. ![]()

Wait! Are we talking about flash in the pages, or flash for avatars and/or sigs?

flash buttons, flash nav, just small flash things around the site
flash headers. i dont know :canadian:
how about a big FLASHing (pun intended
)button for search

it can be very annoying.
if it suits the site though, it can look really good.
If its just buttons and headers, why bother?

I second that motion.
well earlier (about a month or 2) ago someone released a scrollbar thing for flash. ask the creator of it (i forgot who) and maybe you could use that for the news etc.
if it's only to make nav buttons and little stuff like that... you aready got dynamic tool with PHP, use GIF and you can make most of the thing i guess you would do...
change the color of a gif depending of the section... not very hard...
Make flashing buttons... gif...
flash is very heavy... loud... and enoying when it's not used for an appropriate purpose!!!!
if you chose to use flash, keep the possibility for the users not to use it!
About the Flash thing having to do with Kol and RadE, they're both very good, but when i was still on my dialup, it went so slow, it took like 5 min to load.

But on these site, the wait was well worth it. At lease in my opinion (I dispise the IMO, mostly because until about 4 months ago, I didn't know what it meant, you know it took 10 times longer to type my ramble, than to just let it go? Ah well).
