Troubling, But Somewhat Amusing Question

has anyone been the victim of such an odd popup? i don't know where it came from, i clicked no, but it didn't do anything as far as malicious... i'm running a virus check now, but was wondering if this has ever surfaced with anyone here. i want to know if i clicked yes what would have happened..

Do you by any change have the windows messenger SERVICE (not linked to the more commonly known IM application) enabled?

Administrative tools > Services > Messenger Service

That's not the Messenger Service...

Looks like you got some spyware or some little exe running when your comp boots up... here's what you should do...

1. http://www.pcmedixwebs.com/download/RegCleaner.exe - Download RegCleaner

2. Click the startup tab...

And either remove what you think is the thing causing it by trail and error or take a screenshot of what's listed and we can tell you what's safe to remove...

Also try grabbing Lavasoft AdAware or Spybot Search&Destroy and run them to check for adware.

Oh, and if you wanna check out/enable/disable your startup items, run msconfig and click its startup tab, you don't need to download anything extra for that.

my virus scan just finished and probably the TEN viruses found and disinfected had something to do with it... i have no idea how i got ten in one shot?? thank god that's over with... it was screwing up the speed of computer boot time i noticed too.

I had something like that to once. It was a friend who sent me an .exe-file just for fun, and that thingie popped ut every time i started my computer. run msconfig and look for something named "oupnirhql" or something (yes i know its a wierd name, but i am not joking:)). That helped for me. And also look in your windows-folder for viruses
