Systemx
Hey Kawika, how's progress?
If you don't mind using an ocx control try this: PNG ocx control. It's a beta but I've tried it and it works great. It uses the zlib.dll library so you need to distribute the .dll and the .ocx with any projects...
Read the installation and usage instructions here: Instructions and here: More Instructions
Good luck! Hope to see your app soon!
this ocx is great. it makes the whole process dealing with png's a hell of a lot easier.
it just has one major problem: it shows the png's in it's ORIGINAL SIZE. the control has no way as to resize the image. this is a major no-no and unfortunately, i don't have any use for that.
well, back to research.

so why not create tiled or sized pngs?
I dont see why you have to give up
you are right there. totaly.
i want to make this app configurable for the end-user. which means, that i do not want the end-user to hassle with png-sizes, since most of the icons you guys have laying around aren't exactly 32x32 pixel in size. most of the icons are 128x128 pixel.
i really need to find a way to make SystemX resize the images at startup.
anyway, i'm continuing to program this app with fixed 32x32pixel png's untill i find a way on how to implement this feature.
