Widescreen

I have a 17 " flatpanel that is not widescreen but i would like to have it that way. is there a way to put borders on teh top and bottom so that gives it a movie ish feel. I know this reduces work space and most of you would hate it, but i think it would be pretty cool.

Couldn't you just go into the monitor's control panel.. and move/adjust the screen around, to make it shorter? Make it shorter+++, then adjust the location so it's centered?
