Update: .mac Like Services And Zeamail...

Hello,

After so much planning on the new services, and work effort put into them. I first want to thank aqua-soft.org for putting me intouch with the rite people to do it, with out aqua-soft.org and great people that use the forums, there would be no plan! So thank every one very much.

First I had to leave for sanfransisco for a few months, and work with THX Digital. The movie media company, so every things kinda been on hold. But all still in the planning.

I need to get a hold of my project leaders on building the programs, and working with zeamail.com on the projects, so every one who has knolege of .mac services, and website stuff (every thing from design, news, and images, even scripting) Please get a hold of me.

We have a contract out with a few cellphone service providers to offer ZEA mobile, and some contracts with internet service providers for ZEA net. So those aspects are coming along.

But here I am once again, back on these forums. I need all the help I can get, and if you can help me I would like to make you part of the company / project. You benifit as much as I do.

I'll be writing to the owner and managers of aqua-soft.org about possible linking up with one another, im going to put them on the website any way for being so helpful and starting me off on my idea. It's my thanks for all they have done for me..

So here I am... You know program design, website design, images, scripts, any thing that may give ZEA a boost, or even website hosting. Just post back!

I remember the first thread on this topic, I thought the project was dead in the water... awesome to hear it's still planned for development

Myself, I know basic image manipulation skills, but I know serious HTML, XHTML, and CSS. I know minor PHP and MySQL as well, but haven't had the chance to really work with them.

As well, I'm a Java programmer (which includes JavaScripts).

Wow, and we all thought you left us with high hopes. Glad to see you back. But don't be surprised if people treat you with scepticism. I understand it's not your fault - work and stuff - but you know...social mechanisms aren't something we are aware of ;)

I have no clue, I've never had the chance to try. What kind of games are you talking about? Keyboard/joystick input? Web-based applet games, or downloadable games?

It's really quite funny you should ask that, because after I graduate I want to get into the gaming industry, but I really haven't done anything on my own yet along those lines.

I'll take a look at that site when I get home (in about thirty minutes or so) and give you an estimate on whether or not I think I'll be capable of it.

Java advertisements? That sounds rather easy/painless..

Allright, I've checked out the games on Pogo.com.. and I believe I should be able to make similar style games, if given the time. Unfortunately, with the holidays coming up (and, subsequently, the end to my co-op work term here in toronto) I'll be travelling alot and moving back to Waterloo for another school term, so free time is currently at a minimum.. I could try to start work on one game..

Few questions though: Do you want these games to be just for fun? Or do you want the whole money thing involved too? Do you want the chat capabilities? And give me an idea for a good game to start on (or a game concept I can work with)

Simple games with out chat, and the points for money thing would do fine...

But if it's possible to create a system just like they have it would be ten times better, considering the fact that if your playing a game and you can win money at the same time, you'd play more often, rite?

the object of the games it to keep people coming back time after time. And the ads they would see durring the time they are playing the game, would help pay the winners who win cash.

Chat function isn't nessary, but it's nice...

Hey jade, we were all worried abou you, welcome back. As for any help I can give, Im a whiz at photoshop, and layout of print advertisements. So in theory I could help with ads, doing mockups and whatnot, and maybe one of the other codeing geniouses could do the implementation to the web.

PM me and Ill give you my email addy/

I assume it also has to link into the existing member database for the site, won't it? ie) only registered members can play.

I suppose it's easy enough to read from the database and ask for username and password when the game starts... I'll take it for granted that it'll be a password protected database..

Chat function I'd have to look into, I'm not entirely sure how to go about that.. and if you want a cash-type of system similar to pogo.com, I'd have to figure out how Pogo calculates and awards its jackpots, or we could figure out our own way to make payoffs, and members' scores or money could easily be stored in the database.

Of course, when we're talking competing for real money here, wouldn't we have to register with some sort of government gaming corporation? As well, we'd need some good protection of the database so that people can't easily hack in and change their own values.

Great! I was really looking for some one to help me with images on the site, ive been going nuts, im not that great, but if you check out the website (www.zeamail.com) and look around the site needs images that protain to what page they are on, and i really need something to fill that big area on the main page were i have a cruddy old picture of some one walking in the mountains... I could use a good picture of a cellphone on a white back ground for the mobile page. things like that...

If you want to help im all for it...

I'll be happy to take idea's and toughts that you mite have, as well as partly give you your own section of the site in the future, to offer others your services for a fee...

Take all the time you need for this project, it's a big part of zea, and im not going to rush you, or put any type of strain on you... Im glad to have you aboard..

After you figure out how you want to do this, just send me email, and take your time... that way things don't get scewed up...

If for the time being you just want to create a few louzy games for the gaming department, that would also be great. Were in no rush for the EXPERT system...

*lol* Okay, I'll take a look into getting the games themselves working, and we'll build the member-base and monitary systems off that I suppose.

Anyone wanna lay down a few quick web-based game ideas? As jade said, similar to the stuff on pogo.com, but hopefully something not ripped directly from that site. I'm not super in the creativity department, but I can take creative ideas and put them into code. :)

Good, good, suggestions are good.. but unfortunately those are the kinds of games that require more than one player, so I'd have to script in some sort of AI to play against.. which, don't get me wrong, isn't impossible, but it's another thing I'd have to add on.. how about we start with single player style games?

#89619

how bout tetris or that one brick game with the ball?

#89641

Allright, I think I'm gonna start simple here. I know I'm not going to get any programming done in the next little while, what with my moving around, but I'm going to start plans for a Freecell game, a Crossword game, and the "block and ball" game, perhaps each with little variants on the regular style, not sure.

Thanks for the suggestions doogie.
