Aqua-Soft Forumswell try this: make a font and put the glyph highliting in it. what i mean is make the pictures of the letters have font smoothing built in. if this is impossible don't start a bash thread or anything because i've never made a font before.

It's completely possible to render glyph highlights on non-OSX machines, its just that Apple owns a patent on it,and only licensed it to a few people.
Linux can do it though, because the people who wrote freetype2 aren't in the US. 
It's not enabled by default on most systems though.
Have you tried it? Can you upload an example?
@Contra: is it possible to write something like freetype2 for windows?
pe7er i've always wanted to know what all those numbers in your signature are. oh and if the patent is only in the us then please all you uk-ers make a lucida grande font that has font smoothing built in.
[edit] as i said i don't know anything about making fonts. that includes how to make them.

They are digits from Pi symbol. Scientists work with supercomputers to calculate them and numbers in my sig represent a small part of the results of their calculations.

Yeah, Archlinux comes with the bytecode interpreter enabled by default. They're based in Canada.
Is it possible for Windows? I suppose, but a program would have to be coded to use it, it can't be done universally.

sorry to interject on this thread but:
pi was a good movie peter7. if you(or bigb) interested one of the best technical books in a similar frame of mind as that movie, you should pick up GEB
its in my top 5.
