#88335

You need to be using the CVS version of metacity, not the release.

It's in the instructions. ;)

#88362

ha, i swore i downloaded the cvs guess i went off in not thinking land and clicked wrong links

ill get it working thanks

-bolero

#88367

when you get this working, I would love to know what you think of it? Is it a decent port, how quick is the response, etc. thanks

#88379

from what i hear its still farily buggy and requires a pretty fast computer. I think i'll wait for more development until i actually try it out.

#88397

Bolero: Im having trouble getting it to work, if you have better luck, make a package. :D

Telmo and Code_Monkey are using it, they say its wonderful. Hopefully gooeylinux will have a detailed guide on setting it up.

#88421

it makes metacity in general laggy on my box,

looks great though ;)

gf2 gts

#88429

as Contrasultra said, it's great.

No lag on my box

#88447

any effects or how does it work

press 1 button and the windows automaticaly appeared as thumbnails.. or how is it visually?

also as soon as i can even get the CVS of it to compile, iv gotten the metacity directory to sucessfully download to me.. i then applied the patch and it actually worked this time (thanks contra) but now i cant configure it.. heh

-bolero

#88472

downlaod the patch file (expocity-11-24-03.diff) in a new directory, say /home/you/meta

cd /home/you/meta

export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome

cvs login

cvs -z3 co metacity

patch -p0 < expocity-11-24-03.diff

cd metacity

./autogen.sh

make

(as root:) make install

metacity --replace

press ALT-TAB and enjoy a lot

The effect is just like expose i believe, the windows whip in from off screen fitting to where ever they fit in. slick.

#88532

so thanx to GrandMasta i tried it and it rules. It's a little buggy, but the effect is flawless.

C_M: THE SITE ISN'T OPEN YET! ;)

Bolero: Yeah, same thing I get. autoconf is having trouble finding some of the m4 modules, and/or we're missing some.

#88677

hmm then where should we go/ask for the problem (the solution really)?

i really wanna try this but it just doesnt compile!

bolero: Which version of autoconf are you running?

#88727

We're using 1.7.9 I believe.

Yeah, it's pretty much not gonna work. I've tried everything.

#88752

well thats just jolly now isnt it? *dissapointed*

-bolero

#88761

I'm using Autoconf 2.5.7 and it configs without a problem. I suggest upgrading to 2.5.7

#88798

im in linux right now upgraded autoconf and it fixed "some" errors but the same thing is still there basically so that didnt help

here is what i get now.. alot shorter then before tho

#88803

My bad, we're using autoconf 2.58.

Apparantly arch has another case of the "upgrade too soon"s. We have a freetype2 problem because of this as well.

#88813

maybe someone at arch messages boards may know what the problem is?

-bolero

#88815

I've already posted it, it just seems that you need automake 2.57, and arch has 2.58

#88821

so you need a lower version of autoconf? thats odd

-bolero

#88830

Slackware 9.1 still has autoconf 2.57. I can't wait to try this out!

Thanks for the mini-tutorial, Grand Masta :)
