yea i've noticed it but....no offence....you heavily modded it till you lessened usability for the sake of appearance in a very important menu...

The Pictures are misleading. I didn't compleatly remove any actions from the right click menu. I f you go to my website you'll know what I'm talking about.

For example

When you right click the desktop "Refresh" is now called "Disable Folder Actions"

also The submenu's "View", "Arrange Icons By" and the actions "Paste", "Make Alias"

and "Undo" are all in their own submenu called "Attach a Folder Action"

The reason for this is because it looks more like the contextual menu in OS X.3

And When it's there, "Cancel" is sometimes "Disable Folder Actions" depending on were you see

it. If it’s in explorer than its "Disable Folder Actions" if it's a program than it's

"Cancel".

And The actions "Cut" and "Rename" are now in a submenu appropriately titled " "

I'm not kidding I did this because in the Mac you can’t rename or cut something

by right clicking it, and instead of just deleting it I put it in a submenu.

So I didn't take away any functionality. I just changed the names and hid some stuff within submenu's. You are kindof right though because it is more time cumsuming to paste and cut and rename.

1) Okay first off. The tabs can't be arranged in the center. Well, if they can it's not something I can do. That would more than likely require rewriting Windows code. Something I don't have access to nor could I even do it if I did :6

2) Second, if someone has a better clock to send me, go for it. One thing to keep in mind though: In the default Windows analog time clock, there are dots that mark every hour in a circle shape. Those dots will overlay on the bitmap, one reason I went with a dark blue clock. I can't remove them, I've tried trust me. However, send me other clocks to (flyakite @ hotmail) or send me a link to one and I'll see how it looks. They have to be 128x128 to look right.

3) I'm considering NOT moddifying the right-click context menus. I've talked to a couple of people who would rather not have that included. Since they are string tables located within shell32 it's not an option I can put in the installer. I could, but it would require including two seperate shell32.dll files, which both would be 27mb a piece. That would make the installer size skyrocket which isn't worth the result. Plus it's not a huge thing. It confuses people when you start to rename something they are really used to.

Keep the ideas coming.

Since your so cool and have done this that I've never seen before maybe ( if it's possible you could find the file that host the addrees bar for the taskbar, and remove it's

manifest file and add a 23 resource and give it it's own skin. Maybe you could make it look like the search box in Panther.

Okay here's a little update.

I think I'm COMPLETELY done modding files now. I've also converted all of the MSN Messenger skins from 6.1.0207 to 6.1.0211.

Now I'm going to work on the installer. If all goes as planned I should have the installer finished tomorrow. Then I've gotta do a little testing, take some screenshots. And then hopefully I can release the files Wednesday

Oh, and I don't have more screenshots right now so don't ask. I haven't installed the files into my system yet.

I haven't modded OE ever before, but I'll look into it and maybe include it if I get the installer finished early.

Also I'm building a function into the installer to check for SP1. If SP1 is not installed on your system the installer will remind you to either upgrade to SP1 or use the "Extract Files Only" option.

Okay the SP1 check system was easy to add, now I'm implimenting a much more advanced uninstall system.

It won't require any extra user input, but unlike the old method where EVERYTHING was reverted to the backup files, this new system will only uninstall what you installed. It will save time and hopefully problems.

I'm also integrating hopefully better error checking problems and HOPEFULLY have gotten rid of the problem where installing the boot screen would cause the computer to not boot into Windows on reboot.

Okay here's another update you'll all like:

I'm flying through this installer at the moment.

I've integrated a complex uninstall system that will only uninstall the items that you installed. The old system would revert everything to the backup versions. With this new method if you only install shell32 it will only remove shell32. This greatly improves the uninstall speed.

I've also added better file checking. Some people would not be able to get back into Windows on restart. That was because when some files tried to install it renamed the old file to .bak but didn't copy the new file over, so the system couldn't find the files it needed. This system double checks to make sure the files are there before it reboots the computer.

I need mirrors!

And the BEST news of all is that since I'm going through this so fast now and everything is coming together, I could possibly be releasing it later tonight!

I just need a couple things.

1) I need about 4 or 5 people who can mirror the file for me. The file is 30mb in size.

2) I need some testers. 5 or so maybe. Please keep in mind that this release isn't final just yet. Therefore if in the VERY RARE case something happens to your system do not hold me responsible if you are testing.

If you can host or test for me please contact me with one of the methods available on this forum. Either AIM, Yahoo, MSN, PM, or e-mail.

Flyakite I have two hard drive's both with XP (I'm using my 120gig now, and the other 40 gig I use it to go into my 120 gig and replace files, fix problems, and what not.)
