Need assistance with boot logo

Hey guys,

Im in desprite need of help here. I installed a boot screen exactly like the readme.txt said (edit boot.ini and add a file to the sytem32 folder) anyways the boot screen appears and then goes white and restarts my system over and over again. What can I do??? I just moved to a new city and in the move my restore discs were lost!!! SOMEONE, ANYONE, PLEASE HELP! Im using WindowsXP Home Edition SP1

Im on my brothers computer and cant be on it long so if anyone reads this and can help please I would appreciate it.

Does it say anything after execing ntosboot.exe? (Are you using this file)?

Try starting up windoze, press f8.

Try going in using safe mode, safemode with command prompt, etc....

If you can get in using any of these you'll be ok, but I'm not sure if you can.

I think I recall seeing window's running ntosboot in a safe mode startup.... That's bad...

Another alternative is to make heaps of computer friends... One of them will have an xp disk..

Or another one, a bit of a long shot though. If one of the aqua soft junkies lives near you they could send you a *Backup* xp disk.......

I dunno, just a few ideas...

If you can get into win/command prompt and can edit boot.ini it should look something like this:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /KERNEL=NTOSBOOT.EXE

Does xp have edit.com?

That is exactly the problem

Recovery Console does not have edit.com....I'm trying to help am7 though...

XP recovery console does not have edit.com, but you can still launch notepad.

Just type notepad.exe boot.ini.

Even though you are in a command prompt mode, it will still execute the program.

Im back!! Thanks to Siddharth. For future reference heres what i did...

I didnt have a "real" XP cd so I took my burnt copy and loaded it to my harddrive, I then made a bin file and burned it with nero as a bootable cd rom. From there I made my comp boot from disc (with the new disc in) and i re-installed XP overwriting my old one. I lost no files and very few programs (just Office XP and Winrar). Im good to go now. But once again thanks to Siddharth, without him I would be paying cash to have some shop fix it.
