Dock Recommendation

Hi everyone, post numero uno.

Seeing how I just learned the dock i'm using (Aqua Dock) isn't really 'Aqua' dock after all I'd like to use Y'z Dock or OD. Y'z seems to be very community driven, rather than profit driven. but i'm new to this community and would like input from the regulars.

how do the ram requirements compare?

will dev. still continue on Y'z Dock in some fashion now that apple threw a core at the developer?

that's about it, thanks for the info :)

y'z dock is no longer in development, and distribution is not allowed.

unless you're already using y'z dock, your two choices are objectdock and mobydock.

for ram, i find y'z consumes about 500k while objectdock consumes a few mb.

just try out the different docks and see what appeals to you.

+ Mobydock : has system tray in the dock thingie (current active window in taskbar, dunno what it is called)

+ Mobydock : using DirectX 9.0 when rendering - much faster performance

- Mobydock: Docklet non-expandable, which means you cannot add your own docklet

+Objectdock: supports add-on docklets

See which one suits you better. I personally had switched from OD to MD, but does not mean everyone prefers MD more than OD :)

Aqua Dock is just a hacked version of Yz dock. I use Object Dock, especially since Judge's sysstats docklet came out. Arguably the best docklet out there.

ObjectDock also supports tasks, and MobyDock's DX9 rendering is all well and good, but it still eats CPU and memory for breakfast.
