Address Book 1.0 Beta2

I've decided to release Beta2 as there are new features, and bugs correction....

For people who don't know, I've created an advanced Address Book, like one you'll find in Panther...

1.0 beta 2 (07.12.2003)

* Rename group : press ESC to cancel

* Rename group : group name is highligthed when starting renaming

* Delete group : ask if you would like to delete associated cards too

* Search field : press ESC to clear search field

* Search field : show number of results

* Search : you can display more than on result ! Press F3 to show next result

* Group association : full support for drag and drop

* Group filtering : full support, means that you can add/edit card in this mode, and even import/export (was not a bug but a limitation)

* Directory view : you can customize third colum (right-click, except on column headers)

* Internal web browser : new throbber (actual MacOS one)

* Notify when my card changes : now includes your personal info

* Locate on a map : all english-named countries should be recognized, and french names are now supported too

To add other languages, just edit the file 'countries.txt' in installation directory

* New application's icon by Mefistus (OD users : you need to drag and drop real EXE file, not a link)

* New installer (with missing DLL included)

Bugs fixed :

o Ensure application's position is not going out of screen at start-up

o Notify 'Me' Card changes : if you select 'All' group, you're not included in emails list anymore (sounds logical lol)

o Notify 'Me' Card changes : email now properly reflects message text (including 'enter' key code)

o Selecting a card in Directory mode will select it in the normal view mode

o Settings menu position is fixed

o Reduced application's file size and reduced disk accesses

o 'All' group can be exported

Please report bugs that are not listed in my known bugs

He posted PNG in the Icons section of the board

I did not try installing both version, try, you'll see lol

otherwise, I think next version will let you choose where to install your address book data (then no rish to delete them when unstalling)

Excellent Program! Runs great and doesnt lack anything in my opinion stability wise! I think this is the best way to do stuff is have a solid foundation and build stuff on top! Real promising! Waiting for the CSV support for right now, but after that comes out I may use this as my default address book!

I'm still working on it

As soon as someone send me a bug report, I try to fix it (if I can !), and I've added this new features to beta3 already :

* 'Print card' new feature, with Print preview and customizable font

* Groups and card panes can be resized (like in original Address Book)

* Search : show first result as soon as you type something (no need to press enter, search results are automatically refreshed)

* Personal data are now stored outside your install folder, in Application Data system-folder

international font bug : don't know why, maybe a limitation of the listview control in visual basic ? coz it is the same font in both cards list and card view !

except that in card list I can't choose which version of font to use (occidental, cyrillic....), whereas I can in card view fields
