[help] Md Magnification Speed

I just got myself a DX9 graphics card (radeon 9800) and thought I could give Mobydock a try.

Since Y'z, which I have been using for a while, did not have much support for graphics card accelerated rendering I was expending Moby to be a little faster.

The dock is running fine; it is extremely smooth, no choppiness, no quality issues etc. but the thing is the magnification animation is so slow.

When I switch back to Y'z, the entire zoom-in zoom-out animation is so much faster.

Moby on the other hand takes forever to complete the animations.

It's almost like a slow-motion dock (comparatively).

Is there an option someplace that would let me adjust the animation speed?

Or perhaps something to make the dock a little more responsive, so it magnifies right away, and goes back to its original form without the slow gradual animation.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have no idea what could be wrong here, I have DX9b installed in my old laptop with a nvidia 440go (basically a gf4 mx) and it runs very fast and very smoothly. On a 9800 it should scream along..

I think it is runny fast in the sense that it is giving me high framerates and it is smooth.

But for some odd reason it is sluggish.

I can't really put my finger on it, I'm not even sure if I'm being clear here.

It seems though it's not a performance issue.

The process of magnifying and demagnifying takes relatively long. Again I'm always comparing it to Y'z, which doesn't even support hardware DX9.

After a mouse-over event the program does not reach its magnified size quickly.

It's not snappy, it's gradual, and thus it's making the dock less usable.

This is the latest version I'm running.

Hope I'm being descriptive enough.

you should take a really short vid with camstudio or something, to give people a better idea.

switching from yz to moby for me it did seem too slow(moby), but when you get used to it, yz seems to fast and a bit jarring. I can't go back now.

do you have this issue when running across the dock(icon to icon) or just when first mousing over onto the dock?

Try setting the Process-Priority to realtime.

It might speed the dock up.

i have the same problem and i just upgraded to radeon 9600. the initial magnification part is slow no matter (even w/ priority set to realtime). moving the cursor over the dock items back and forth is very smooth though (but still use way too much cpu imo). i'm using objectdock as it is more responsive right now and uses same amount of cpu as mobydock.
