Hey about 3 weeks ago i messed up my computer but managed to restore all of my files and settings,when i went to set up my 56k us robotics internal faxmodem, it says that the hardware is not present. I tried it in three different PCI slots on my motherboard, i dont know whats wrong. Any help?

is it seated properly in the slot? check device manager. is it listed? do you even see an "unknown device"?
Yes the modem is seated correctly and is in the device manager as working properly, but when i try to connect i get error 633. Cant seem to get around that

error 633 means the port is in use. is something else opening it? also try eliminating other network connections and maybe try reconfiguring your modem/connection.
you might also try getting the latest drivers for it. my friend had the same problem, and drivers resolved the issue.
I also tried that but still no good, is there a program out there that checks what is using what ports? maybe there is a conflict, but another person who had this problem said it was a networking conflict that couldnt be resolved, beats me
