I have an Audigy and would really like to split the Volume controls for MP3 and Wav files.
In other words I want to have two seperate (or more) volume controls one for Wav sounds and another for MP3 and Mpeg/avi volume.
I don't think this is possible but I couldbe wrong
AFAIK it's impossible. They all go through wave device. I have SB Live and it doesn't support it. It would be cool... 
MP3 is decoded to WAV on the fly. There is no difference output-wise when playing MP3s to distinguish between the two.
Maybe he means mp3 -> music, wav -> gameplay sounds?
