I love OSx's look and feel but recently had to sell my powerbook.

What application to do you guys recomend to get the doc and all that other fun stuff?

Thanks.

Unfortunately for you, there is no "All in one" package (ex. shell replacement, etc) that will do it for you.

For the best mac look, you'll need the following:

  • Windows XP
  • StyleXP or hacked uxtheme.dll file for WindowsXP (if you want to use Visualstyles, if not, see next point)
  • Stardock Suite (WindowsBlinds, WindowFX, and ObjectBar primarily) for skinning, shadows, and the finderbar across the top
  • MobyDock or ObjectDock for your Dock needs.
  • A realistic Mac (Panther/Jaguar, etc..) Visual Style (if going that way) or WindowsBlinds theme (if going that way). Try looking around the forum for releases in the appropriate categories or Customize.org I think is a good site.
  • Mac-ish programs. iTunes for windows is a good one, and you can scan the Aqua Apps section of the form for other applications. Jib, for example, has just released a kickass address book made to resemble Apple's.

Good luck with your hunt.

(all this from a guy who doesn't even want his computer to look mac-ish.. how screwy am I to know it all?)

-=edit=- Oh, yeah, and that's just the basic stuff. If you really want to go nuts, you can hack your windows system files (or download pre-hacked replacements from this forum) so that your icons, bootscreen, loginscreen, and other hard-coded windows appearance defaults look more mac-ish. -=/edit=-

probably to get the most results in terms of fonts, icons, theme, etc. the quickest would be to use one of the 'packs' that have been created... croka made one, as did flyakite... this won't include the docks or bar as stated below, but it will minimize the time having to find a theme and the icons to replace. i know croka spends more of his time at aquaxp, so you would have to find his there....

flyakite's is here:

(i think his is under construction because he's updating it currently to a new version)
