Shortcut Show Desktop
drag and drop from the quick launch
How can I get mine back on quick launch?
The location of the quick launch is here:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
and theres a way to get it back, but i can't remember...
*remembering*
Open Notepad and enter the following text:
[shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on the Quick Launch bar or whatever location you want the shortcut to appear.

If you want to Show Desktop using the keyboard, press Win+D.
If you want to do it using the mouse, download iEx by siwu. That program emulates Expose on the PC. One thing it can do is hide all the windows. (That's how Mac users execute a Show Desktop command.) It can also show a thumbnail for each open window and let you click on one to activate that window.
The advantage to either method is that you save a little room on your Dock. :moon:
I will come with a "keypress docklet" soon. It will allow you to set a shortcut combo that is emulated on click.
SIWU's Iex is a KILLING TOOL!! IT ROX EVERY F***ING SHORTCUTS!!!

Use this.It's a small app that sits in your windows sys tray and minimises everything with a single click and maximises with shift click.
To use it in the dock just drag the .exe into the dock as usual and put /now in the arguments line. It's a bit annoying having to shift click to re maximise everything, but at least it works!!
Oh, and you have to register for their newsletter (free) to get the activation code, otherwise you get a countdown startup ![]()
this works for me, although i'm using y'z dock (but it should be the same): http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=121029
Drag and drop Show Desktop.vcf worked until 1.0 RC1 and then its stopped working !
Otherwise, pressing Win + D will also hide OD .... ![]()
@Jib, that's because you don't have it "Always On Top."
If you want to use the keyboard you can press Win+M to minimize all windows and Shift+Win+M to un-minimize them, or install iEx (the default Hotkey for hiding all windows is F11, but it can be changed).
coooool. that works. the dock gets hidden either, but when u scroll with the mouse over the area, where the dock should be, it appears. (Y)

Antivirus software might not run vb scripts due to the fact that .vbs are marked as malicious. Besides, personally, I find the docklet easier....just add to the dock ![]()
use iExpose and press f11 ![]()
