The darkness has arrived. Introducing .xK (Tres Noir v0.4)! Using Apple's Panther look as a base, .xK emulates a sleek black look mingled with pixel-look tech selections. Metal will never feel so good again.

Subthemes

2004 - Confirm, default sleek dark look.

1990 - Idea, graphite/blue tint.

2290 - Idea, sleeker with less visual impact.

Only criticism: I would make the gradient on the titlebars a litttle bit softer, especially on the bottom side. But i'm sure I wouldn't be able to do such a theme.

Looks very good....could you consider a sub-style with buttons on the right side of the titlebar for us old folks that like the aqua-look, but can't get used to those left-hand buttons?

Comments:

1. Gradient on the titlebar could be softer.

2. Stroke around 'traffic light' buttons looks errmmm....'not nice' :rolleyes:

3. Msstyle port please.

Otherwise - GREAT! I think you should wait with porting it to msstyle (if you agree to do it) until ThreeDrives releases his TDK 4.0 - he put some nice stuff into this theme like 0 px borders and good fonts. Worth looking at before working in Stylebuilder

"Trés noir" does it mean anything??? cause i'm french and i thought it was "très noir" (very dark or very black) or "trait noir" (black line)

i say that cause i know that in english ther is no accents so... maybe if you're french or something like that it has a signification :woot:

It looks fine anyway, i vote for the continuation of the theme!!

Oooh quite a few replies..

@Patoni; The gradient went through alot of tweaks and I think softening it would shift it towards looking like a "flat" sheen (like Panther's titlebars). Glad to see you like!

@People who want MS-Style port; You'd have to ask another person to do so, I won't have time. When it gets released I'll express my permission to release ports to other skin formats.

@People who want right-sided buttons; I can probubly include that for the Graphite and Normal schemes.

@Pe7er; 1: Read Patoni reply. 2: I've tried it smoothed up and removed and trust me, it looks better with the current highlight to make the buttons seem more sunken. I ripped the images from a not great quality screenshot and I'll probubly remake them from hand when I get time. 3: Above.

@silencedge; Thanks! Actually though it wouldn't take me too long to do the suite if it was my only project.. I'm working on a very good RPG (SYNthesis - Click for some info) that won't be in Beta format until Febuary-ish. Once that's done or nearly done I'll sit down and sort out doing this. I guess I'll have to buy VPC to do it.. >. :lol: All I need to do is press Alt+e this way.. Everyone'll just have to use their imagination. And it is suppost to mean "Very Black".

I need to update that preview with one that displays scrollbars and changed progress bars. I'll update it tomorrow..

Edit: Would people prefer darkened Panther buttons (or abstractish versions) instead of sunken plastic like I'm planning (not in the preview)?

Hey es.xxi, I like that RPG you're currently doing!!! Read through some mails in that forum when I was in school today. :lol: Opps, sorry, wrong place to be saying something unrelated.

Anyway, do you reckon that you might be coming up with a complete suite for 'Trés Noir'? Actually I'm referring to an additional skin for trillian as well... since I use it so often. :naughty: How about some sounds for the theme as well? That will be REALLY cool... :woot:

But anyway, just a suggestion. :shy: Even with just what you have intended, I'd be EXTREMELY SATISFIED!

There will be sounds as well.

And I'll probubly leave doing Trillian/etc skins to other people, I've never skinned Trillian myself. So anyone, once it's released, is free to distribute a matching skin for other programs.

And thanks, we need some activity while people are waiting for SYNthesis to be released.

1) Kerin will be helping with a MS-Style port (read: I'll give him resources, let him do it, I'll check over for accuracy then let him release).

2) I'd like to know if anyone is willing to assemble skins for; Mozilla, Trillian, Yz Toolbar etc etc. I can make all the resources but I don't have time to actually do them. If you've done one of the above before and want to help with this project (remember I won't be working on this until January at earliest), PM/IM me.
