Can macs play downloaded movie clips with all those different codecs? Like avi files encoded in DivX or Xvid etc? Are the codecs available for macs or do those formats need to be converted into order to viewed on a mac?
(Sorry if its a stupid question, I nevered seen anything played on a mac besides dvd and quicktime movies)

cool! i wish my mac was back from the shop!
you can download the divx codec from the divx site. but it doesn't open a divx program like the windows version, just opens the file in quicktime.
ah...oh well
good program! i use Power DVD for everything (best video program ever) and i have a projector so it is basically my TV (i never watch real TV, ie programs unless something cool is on the National Geographic channel)
yea, i agree VLC is kickass, the only problems ive had are with WMV, WMA, and ASF files...but im sorta asking for trouble when playing those files on any platform in any player
