Macos X Default Icons

Hi all,

I'm looking for a big collection of all/most of the official system and apps icons from MacOS X. I'm not too fussy atm about which version they are from (10.2 or 10.3 will do me fine, or even plain old 10.1 or earlier if necessary), but I want them in .png format ideally and I've not been able to find any on the web - I'm guessing because Apple has some sort of embargo on these things. I've asked around a few other sites and many of them referred me here - can anyone help me?

Cheers

Doc

[02:37:31] No such host is known.

I can resolve ftp.themex.net and plain ol themex.net, but the L/P doesn't work for those.

You're asking for Mac OSX Default icons? Don't you think we're already covered this? There's been countless thread that have links to these icons and now you're asking us to give you a direct link? Can't you at least search/browse the forums? There's at least 6 months worth of archive, the link exist in there somewhere.

I have to repeat this, for your sake and all the thread-starting-noobs...

Next time, search the f**king forum. It's as effective as Google. If you really can't find what you're looking for, you using it wrong. If not, browsing works too. Browse the archives, you're bound to find something. And if the links don't work, don't whine and open a thread saying the link's not working, it won't do much. Wait for someone to fix the link or provide a mirror. And if all the above fails, then you're probably allow to start a new thread without having people like me posting comments like this one.

Do you not think I tried that first? Do you not think I had to wade through endless pages of other people asking for icons and very broken links and dead images? Do you not think I continued to do this even after I had posted on the offchance I had missed something?

Foolish me, I expected people at a forum to at least pretend to be helpful, or polite. How very naive I must be - or maybe the usual forums I use are exceptional in that regard.

Yes, Doc is right, stuff like this

Quick Access to Panther icons and bonus packs

Panthericons

Panthersound

PS do you guys have any other kinda Panther themes ,for instance for yz toolbar and some other?

is not helpful at all <_<

Did you not think about adding anew post on those thread that were open for a reason asking for a working mirror?

Dude, imagine if every **** opens a new thread asking for Mac OS X default icons, how many threads are they gonna be? We are not here to serve you. The links are out there, you aren't looking hard enough. Plus, there are sites you go to to get this icons, multiple sites even. The links are here. Archives runs up till as early as November 2002 (you need to display the threads from the beginning), it's not possible that you can't find even ONE link. Did you even check the pinned threads? I'm sure there are links there.

I'm not trying to be the bad guy here, remember. It's understandable when you want to find some rare, elusive icons but come on, it's the default icons. It's here, it's been posted countless times. 10.1, 10.2 and recently by GillBates, 10.3 icons, there're all here. How do you think we got the icons?

I'm not sure, possibly by... asking? As I said, I did search, and most of the links I found were broken. Most of them still are, including the ones in that GillBates post. I did find a few links, but the icon sets I found were incomplete, and most of those I found after I first posted. It's not as if I came to this site and immediately posted without having a look first. I'm sorry for not combing every single post and trying every single link manually before I took up your precious time. I assumed, being as this is a forum for those who like the MacOS X style and appearance, that people might actually want to be helpful and kind, and not patronise and insult newcomers. Don't worry - it's not a mistake I'll make again.

Very polite of you to apologise, well done. But a lot of us do comb the site with the search feature and come up with stuff without threads like this

He wasn't insulting or patronising. He was pointing out. Anyway, the default icons are scattered in small lots all over the place. Comb for them. The load that GillBates posted still needs sifting through to find the ones you want anyway.

Yes, very polite of me, because of course I'm being totally unreasonable. I asked an innocent and polite question expecting people to not be so selfish as to not wish to post a link, and instead to insult and patronise me. He swore, he told me to do something I had already done and explained it to me as though I am a child. "If all that fails, you're probably allowed to start a new thread"? Well, thanks, that's generous of you, and not even patronising or insulting in any way, of course.

"Pointing out", as you so generously put it, would have been, "Dude, please don't post things like this without making sure you've searched fully first, thanks." To which I would have replied, "I have already searched, and found multiple broken links, etc. etc., was hoping someone could post an up-to-date one, etc. etc." The cursors one was a genuine oversight, and anyway there are no threads in the cursors section at the moment to search through...

... What the hell, I can't be arsed to repeat myself again. Apologies for having the nerve to breathe, type, register or (gasp) ask a question on such a cliquey, arrogant forum. I'm now leaving and I doubt I'll be back, which should doubtless please the lot of you who can't apparently stand anyone without 500 posts to their name daring to make a new one.

Lets just say this. Again, no flaming wars.

And I am sorry for how this is gonna come out but hey...

Doc, I understand your reasoning, but man, come on. And not only did you not look hard enough to find those icons, and if you did, then you didn't persist, you stopped somewhere! And don't expect much RESPECT out of any of us who have been here LONG before you have. Lets just get this strait. Doc, just say you are sorry, don't mouth off, and be thankful that someone helped you out. Everyone else, just ease up a little bit, but maintain your composure.

I hope that didn't sound too bad.

Again Doc, you EARN respect, you don't just get it...
