expocity is an effort to integrate an efficient means of switching between applications into the window manager metacity. After pressing a keystroke, your window manager will present you a complete overview of all open windows and you can select the window, you want to switch to, visually.You no longer have to search a too full taskbar or the tablist for the right window. Just point at it.

It looks nice in the screenshots, and it's pretty easy to patch the metacity source and build it, but it is S-L-O-W. And it's not just the expocity feature that is slow, but the overall performance of metacity drops. So don't bother unless you have a fast machine. On my 1.1 GHz machine w/512 MB window dragging was less responsive (though not unbearable) and when I dragged one window across another there was a clear delay in redraw time, which kind of negates the eye-candy value of this hack.
...yeesh. Too bad for me then, because I have a 1.1 GHz machine with 256 MB. 
whoa thats awesome.. i wounder how tha twould run on my 2.4ghz with 512megs of ram.... im just too lazy to patch and compile metacity lol

Damn, my Celeron 800MHz machine would die then huh?
I don't even have any compilers on my Linux partition to even try it out... ah well....
if metacity is coded in c and has a makefile with it's source just go into the source directory in a terminal and type
make

No its not.
I have it running on my Athlon xp 1800 with 1 gig ddr mem and cost of performance is barely noticable. The only time I notice a decrease in performance is when dragging one window over another like mentioned.
Also I might point out that while it was fairly easy to compile and install it was a little more difficult than just typing "make" :6
