Can u update the scroll bars so that they have round edges and ends?

#7092

i would - but i haven't figured out quite how to implement that yet... it's not the easiest thing skinning mozilla... it's all CSS and XML.

what you need to do is make the curvy part in the scrollbar that the curved part in the grabber meets up to part of the trough. That is the background between the arrows, then you make the white parts in the grabber by the curved parts transparent.

do windows users actually use mozilla?

I wanna give up IE cuz it crashes alot, alot, alot

but i dunno if i'll like it for windows, since lots of stuff in windows opens in explorer, etc. Anyone got comments on it ?

#7183

... i use it for windows exclusively, and removed every instance of IE i could find. you can set things to open up in mozilla if you like - but for web browsing and mail, it's the best out there.

give it a whirl.

how do u get rid of IE?

winxp

You can't actually remove IE, but you can set Mozilla (which you should get, its the superior browser) as your default browser, so it pops up when a website or something opens and you almost never see IE. You still need IE cause Windows Update needs it and some websites need it.

The buttons works fine in Phoenix 0.5-RedHat 8, but the toolbar icons don't show. Any advice on that?

#7488

I'd have to say that Mozilla is really great. And if you have problems with IE, then you should definetly use Mozilla. I'm Using mozilla right now to type this reply. My IE works fine and yet I still like mozilla a little better. And yeah, you cant completly remove IE (damn microsoft) but you can just set mozilla as the default browser. Of course, if you try mozilla and like it I highly encourage you to try Phoenix. Phoenix performs nearly the same as IE and have a very nice and fast start-up time. Must warn you though, it is still in beta.

#7499

I see that phoenix has no installation.

Does it matter where i extract the files?

oh. and can i use aquamoz ?

#7508

what is really great about mozilla over IE? I can;t see any. my IE performs great and never crash yet still compatible with any web standards out there. it also fast same as mozilla. I also use mozilla, but once in a month cause I can;t see the reason why it is better. if someone can point out why it is better, I might change my default browser to mozilla.

Digitheatre: As for needing a reason to switch, I only need one. SKINS!. IE is a little behind the curve when it comes to customization. That, and Mozilla has a built in pop-up blocker. Cant go wrong with Mozilla 1.2.1

Kye: No, it wont matter where you extract the phoenix files because it will makes it own folder "phoenix". If your like me though, you place it in c:\program files\phoenix and make a shortcut on your desktop to it. And as for AquaMoz on Phoenix, Unfortunatley No. The menus for the most part work but the buttons will not display. Phoenix uses some different skinning techinques from Mozilla and I believe thats why It doesnt work. On the other hand, I didnt find a nice Phoenix theme from http://www.deskmod.com, but unforturnately have not been able to make it work. If you can make it work for you though it looks really nice!

Niiice Jason, very nice. Exactly all of the things I would say are better but would take me too long to type

I'm currently using Aquamoz 985 with phoenix and, for the most part, it works fine. The menubar buttons won't show up, but the buttons, tabs, scrollbars (except the horizontal) show up allright.

I'm using phoenix 0.5 under win2k and rh8.

Whenever I open mozilla these days (any build...) it gives me a weird configurization error, and then it works fine after that. I'd be a mozilla user if it wasn't for that...can't get it to go away
