I often see a few people ask for Gnome 2.2 & 2.4 tutorial sites but they tend to go un-noticed. Well I thought it would be nice if I started a post requesting that members post URL's to sites that show us Gnome users how to make our own themes.

Thank you fissy. Can you tell me where all of the default themes (borders, icons etc) are installed? I can not seem to find (or see) them at all.
It's been a few weeks since I've used Linux, but I'd check /usr/share/themes and /usr/share/icons for the 'default' themes/icons, and check ~/.themes/ and ~/.icons/ for themes/icons installed on your own.
Note 1: ~/ means your home directory. So /home/malignity/.themes/ for example.
Note 2: It's actually been closer to ten minutes since I last used Linux, but I was trying to install/configure ArchLinux, and failed, so I haven't used a full running system in a few weeks. But eh. Details. 
If what you say is true then I will be on my way to making my very own OS X Jaguar (I do not like Panther) theme in no time.

Excellent! i'm more of a jaguar fan too 
some simple advice for creating your themes...
make yourself a new user account and do all the theming in the folders there, don't put them in /usr/themes until you've finished and don't do the theming in your usual user area as if you mess something up, you could be stuck till you work it out.
download some themes and install them in your new userarea...
that will show you how the metacity theme needs to be layedout for example
