[help]ps/2 Problems

I got a HP USB mouse w/ a PS/2 converter but it wont work, for some reason, the mouse wont work and the computer doesnt recognise it. The PS/2 slot seems to be a little bigger as it is loosly connected when pluged in fully. I am sue the mouse and the converter work. My Mac recognises it...

i know its silly to ask, but did you restart after plugging it in?

it's a good question to ask, though, because ps/2 is not hot-pluggable.

you also mention that it's loose. i know my ports are a little loose too, but they still work. maybe the port died?

Sounds like you should just get some more usb ports.

You haven't gone and jammed it into an S-video port have you? I know someone who tried to do that once because the looked similar.

The PS/2 port works, I have a mouse in there right now. But i need the other mouse cuz this one doesnt have a scroll whell on it. <_<

I dont have an S-video port...

Yes, I did restart...My BIOS message usually tell me if the mouse is initialized or no, and it wasnt.

That is really odd. If you have the cash I would just get a PCI USB card or a USB hub because USB is a lot faster than PS/2 (which can be noticable when playing games).

Totally agreed. You can pick up a USB hub (4 Port) for 10 bucks at an electronics store.
