GTK 1.x Support

The reason I ask, is because depending on how hard it is I *may* try making themes work with GTK1 myself, if I can learn how (edit: and get permission). I'm a consistency freak. :rolleyes:

However, I don't know if anyone else needs/wants GTK 1 support. I myself use some apps like Easytag which are still GTK1, and I think some of RedHat 9's system stuff is GTK1 (like the root password prompt, if I recall correctly). But am I the only one? Or would it just be easier to wait for these apps to come to GTK2? Or will these apps come to GTK2? What do you think?

Gtk1 isn't worth it. Everyone should migrate their apps to the newest version of gtk2, immediately. Of course, as the laziest of all the skinners around here I may be saying that to avoid doing any extra work :}

I don't think the root password prompt in rh9 is gtk1. If you run an app as root while logged in as someone else, that app uses root's theme settings. So if you're using some really cool theme like, I don't know, Glossy, for example, and then run something as root it looks kind of glaring because its got gnome default theme badness.

I don't use easytag, but I know gstreamer will have facilities for modifying metadata in the near future. The rhythmbox developers are waiting for that to be in place before they add it as a feature to rhythmbox. So presumably you can just toss easytag for good once that happens.

So THAT explains it. Holy mother of Soda do I feel stupid now. I was about to say something about how Synaptic also was a GTK1 app (which always confused me since it says GTK2 everywhere) but I understand now. I never messed with root's theme settings. >.< >.< >.< >.< >.< >.< >.<
