Merlin Bug Report

For those of you that dont know. I am making a Sherlock/Watson Clone or something like it. It will have many features and will be updated alot, so please feel free to post your "Channel" ideas.

Ok Beta 0.01 is released. There is VERY LITTLE functionality, it is more of a, let me test out some stuff, realese. We had a problem in the beginning but now it is all fixed.

Please post your bug reports, system footprints, etc. Thnx. Included in the RAR is a google.ini that is blank. THAT MUST BE THERE FOR THIS TO WORK! I may phase it out later but not right now.

It looks well blended with the skinning from MsStyles.

The search does work but chokes a little bit when puting the data in.

It uses close to 6MB at idle, clearly you can see that it is coded in VB, but you can fix that later.

Yo Wizard. In Sherlock when you go to select a new channel. DOes the pointer turn into a hand? or is it just an arrow still?

Ohh, you must be mistaking, I don't have a Mac :shy: . Although it would be nice. If I were to assume, I would say it stays as an arrow. The Hand is mostly used for the internet.

yes it does, the buttons look perfect, everything looks as good as any other window. good job! no bugs for me, i can delete anything in the window and the cursor stays as a text editing cursor when i mouse over the links.

on my system it uses around 6 MB of ram, like wizard said.

The channels on sherlock are as follows:

Internet (Lycos Powered. It has A relevance meter of little bars up to 5 and the sites name)

Pictures (very nice feature! pwered by gettyimages from Lycos)

Stocks (lycos again!)

Movies(One of the best features. Powered by www.moviefone.com. Can be filtered by Movie or Theatre and you type in your city, state or zip code and it has a drop down menu for showtime.

Yellow Pages (Powered by Switchboard. Area to type in buisness name and then the city /zip code thing. Includes driving directions)

Ebay (Powered by...er...ebay...uhh. yeah)

Flights(Powered by flytecomm. Complex, will be included in the assload of Screens i am about to send you)

Dictionary (Very Very Nice!!!!! Powered by Dictionary.com)

Translation(Powered by Systran)

Then applecare, which we dont need.

Oh I know why the process wont end. I have a window open really quick and then HIDE as a scratch window, I should have CLOSED the window. That will be fixed in the next release. Also I will fix the delete thing.

OH Juno is the one with OS X, JUNO does it turn into a hand when you rool over the top toolbar icons in Sherlock or does it stay an arrow? and do you have to double or single click to change chanels.

Ok, those two bugs are fixed.

Bug Fixes:

-When using the "X" (Close) button, Merlin now quits completely

-The Search Results Field is now Read-Only

some bugs that i get:

When I do a search for two words the arrows start spinning but it goes blank and then nothing happens.

Hitting enter in the search field doesn't work.

Merlin Public Beta 0.04 (0.04 becuase I fixed some bugs)

- Now added translation channel

- Fixed som bugs in the Google Channel

- Google Channel STILL NOT COMLETE but its getting there

- You can now hit the Return key and the operation will execute

*NOTE* In order to use some of the translation languages you must have the appropriate fonts installed (i.e. Traditional Chinese) otherwise you will get very wierd character outputs.

I forgot that I downloaded it. I works just fine. The only complaint that I have is that it lags a little in recieving the data. BTW is the language... C#? I don't know, I really thought it was VB.

P.S. The version is not being updated in the compiled exe. It says it is still version 0.0.1.0. I don't know if your as picky about that as I am.

ya I am Forgot to do that.

The language is very close to Visual Basic, it is REALbasic. I like it because it is fast and simple.

On the note of the delay. Sherlock and Watson also have that delay. It is just the time it takes. I will try to cut down on it if possible though.

I don't know if this is a bug but, the cursor does not turn into a hand when hovering over a link <_<

and the translater does not translate correctly on some words when doing english to spanish like:

English: Hi how are doing?

Spanish: ¿Hi cómo están haciendo?

-----------------------------------------------

English: hi how are you doing

Spanish: hola cómo es usted que hace

is that fine?
