ok, i have installed red hat 9,
and it works well.
But i dont know any ting about it 
So what i want help to is:
1. update kde
2. update gnome
3. get gaim to work whit msn
If some one could help me whit this i would be nice.

Just merely run 'up2date'
It connects to the RH servers, and downloads every update they have. Hope you have bandwidth, because if you haven't done it yet, it will basically redownload every single package you installed. As for gaim working with MSN. It does, out of the box.
Redhat 9 is really old, and redhat already released a newer version.
That would be FEDORA.
They just changed the name, but this is basically redhat 10.
You can then use Up2Date along with the YUM repository to keep your system up to date.
Oh, and for a forum, Code_Monkey and me will have one, eventually, but for now:

nah... it's not rh10.
And everything I read about fedora says it's god awful. I've yet to give a shot though.
I've used both Fedora and Mandrake 9.2 as my main systems and i recommend...
Mandrake
- Mandrake comes able to play pretty much every media format on the planet
- has better configuration tools for most users (Fedora has some nice but unnecessary server config tools)
- Mandrake comes with built in NTFS support and a good disk partitioning and mounting tool.
- Has a graphical shutdown (ok its useless, but we might be able to skin it)
in Fedora's Defence:
- it comes with Rhythmbox built in (though getting it to play anything but oggs is a nightmare)
- Has nice fonts in KDE from install, MDK's are a bit manky.

Umm..yes, it is redhat 10. They took the redhat 10 beta, updated a couple packages, and slapped a new name on it.
If you haven't tried it, don't judge it. Otherwise you're a FUD spreading troll.
Also: Fedora comes w/ Rhythmbox 0.5.3. You should updated to 0.6.0 if you choose fedora, 0.6.0 is sooo much better. Build it with the xine backend, do ./configure --help to find out the exact flag.
And Mandy doesnt come w/ rhythmbox, so you'll have to download and compile anyway.

I'd have to agree with ya....Fedora seems crappy. So's RH9. Then I gave Gentoo a try and didn't like it all that much. I dunno why. None of em could detect my godddamn nForce2 Ethernet controller.
Finally I tried Mandrake 9 and at last I managed to get my ethernet controller working. Power to Mandrake.
