Mozilla And Flashplugin

im tryin to get mozilla 1.5 to recognize the flash plugin.. but this isnt working. I downloaded the flashinstall from the website.. ran it as a normal user so it installs it in my ~/.mozilla/plugins

it puts the files in there fine.. but when i load mozilla the flash plugin is still not listed...

in arch i guess mozilla is installed to /opt/mozilla.. and i dont find another plugins directory..

root up and install it in mozilla's global plugin directory. From what you stated of the /opt/*.. sounds like it's probably

/opt/mozilla/plugins

i tried that and the installer doesnt let me.. so if anything id just copy the flash plugin files manually.. but there is no plugins directory in /opt/mozilla.. can i just make it there.. hopefully thats a right global spot...

EDIT: nope i manullay copied them to /opt/mozilla/plugins and still does not work

What disro are you using? And make sure the mozilla binary is in /opt/mozilla.

Also, if it IS there, make sure that's the mozilla you're actually starting. I wouldn't think it'd be in /opt/mozilla. I thought it was like /usr/local/mozilla or something. But *shrug*.

Anyway, long story short. Figure out where mozilla is really installed. And there will be a plugin directory, and if not create it. And yes, manually copy the files there, and make sure they're modded correctly. I've never been good with knowing exactly what chmod to set on stuff, so I just whore out with 'chmod 777'.

im using Arch linux.. and its saying that it is installed in /opt/mozilla

it isnt in /usr/local/mozilla.. i thought thats where it was too

Bolero, there is an arch package that gives flash to Konqueror, Mozilla, Mozilla Firebird, etc.

do:

pacman -S flashplugin

This is a binary distribution, use it. ;)
