[release] Lightwave

Well, someone requested a Lightwave variation of my Radioactivity wallpaper. Unfortunately I'm lazy and it's been sitting on my HD, along with about 15 other Wallpapers, for a good week now.

 . Sounds good, Seph and wizard, the two original members of the Globox Fan Club.

Thanks for the walls, I'm really liking them.

Hey globox, what's your workflow for these style wallpapers (candy style i guess you'd call them.) I've done some, but they don't come out looking great.

Here's my method.

Create a shape

Make selection from path, save as channel for later

Gradiant this shape

New layer for highlights

Make a path for the highlight that you subtract from your shape selection

White->Trans gradiant in highlight selection

Bevel/Emboss the shape

You do anything differently? (and how'd u do the emboss for your puzzle peice wall?)

I don't even mess with Channels, I hate them so very much. I only use channels when required. Basically I do this:

Create Background

Create Shape

Edit the Shapes styles to make it look how I want it to (drop shadows etc)

Create a duplicate of that shape, or use the line tool

Select an outline of the shape

Then gradient them for the shine

Select the outline root shape once more, Select > Expand > 1 px

Delete Selection

That's pretty much it...

thanks, i think the big difference is you just spend more time on the highlights. Oh and by the way channels rock :)

I wrote this tutorial for those who are interested: http://ben.siys.com/orb.php

Check it out, that's how I do a lot of my aqua stuff.

Any chance for 1600x1200 versions? Pity us people with strained eyes.
