From my understanding, it's like samurize, working on configurations called "widgets", and is basically capable of similar functions. There's some good documentation on the konfabulator website.
Hey, Telmo, so you watch the ScreenSaver too?
My computer doesn't quite make the cut. I'll stick with Samurize.
the full version will probably cost $20 like the mac version but i'd be totally willing to pay for it. ![]()
So it costs money, but they want fairly copentent beta testers to debug their software for them
what kind of deal is that?
What do you mean what kind of deal is that? A friend of mine did part of the development of Windows Server 2003. Not huge parts but he still did some coding, and he didn't get a copy or anything like that. Have you ever been a beta tester for Microsoft? If you have you'd know you are never given the final release when it comes out.
Confabulator is like Samurize, but you really can't make your own configs like Samurize. Each widget is independent of one another, and there's no design screen or anything. Basically you just load a widget, and drag it where you want. That's about it.

Thanks Liron ![]()
this would be awesome if all the widgets that are on Konfabulator for OSX can be ported to XP version.
this'll be great when its released. yeah, hope they can port a bunch of stuff too!
I would imagine that porting widgets woulnt be a breeze. Most of the widgets call things from various programs and whatnot, and the calls that they would make for windows comapired to osx would be 100% diffrent. Some widgets though like weather could be almost a direct port depending on how close the windows version of konfabulator resimbles the osx version. Cant wait thoug, cause deskblox sucks.

He got jacked then....
I was a beta tester for windows 2000 and XP... I got 'free' copies of the final product from MS... there was a $19.95 S/H charge though... but it beats having to pay $200 for it. Course It also helps to be a MCP.
[Note] MCP's get a deal for the action pack, basically all versions of windows, 2000 - 2003 server, XP, exchange server, and some other full version products, like a $10K value... for guess how much... $299.00
I find it rather odd people here in the "Mod windows to be OS X", and don't know what konfabulator is... :banging:
And also how can people not be meeting the min specs... 600mhz w/128mb ram
the specs are low... infact you need a better box than what they require
to do most of the mods 'we' have created to make xp look like OS X...
Heck Objectbar, Windowsblinds, and one of the various docks... will bring
a box with those minimums to a crawl as it is.
i don't care, if i get a beta i will still use it after i'm not supposed to, if theres a time limit i'll figure out a way around it.

Thats not a good attitude to have when they are trusting you with their developmental builds. And most beta builds do have a time Bomb.

Not just piracy, its actual stealing of SOURCE CODE! That can be a felony.
Has anybody heard from Konfabulator yet?

I hope thats not true, a crawl? I have a 500mhz machine w/512mb ram. It does have dual processors but I am not sure how much of a difference that makes. My system is quite modded and no slow downs yet. Of course I'm just waiting for that app that forces me to upgrade. ![]()
