Icons Dont Stay

Okay soo heres a kinda long story...

I was attracted by the umicons and changed all my icons to that. Then GANT came and I like it even more and change to GANT all this with the help of IconPackager and E-Icons. For a while, everything was great, but after a while, everytime I log off or restart, some of my icons go back from GANT to Umicons. I cleared my Icons cache, still didnt do anything. Restored default windows icons, then rechanged to GANT and now, the same icons, got back to default. I dont get it...

The only icons changing back are: My Documents, My Computer, Control Panel and Run I think.

I taught about formatting but I have to many things that I dont wanna loose and I dont really have to time to burn everything. Any way I could fix this without formatting?

are you using the latest nvidia drivers?

i've had no experience with iconpackager, but you might get more permanent results if you replace shell32.dll

I was having the same problem, but only with My Documents and My Computer. I rename them to Home and Computer, and I use Icon Packager. But everytime I restarted, the icons and names would revert to standard.

It's stopped since, but I have *no* clue how or why. My only guess is that it was from installing SP1 (I'm using Windows XP) but I don't know for sure. The other thing I was thinking it could be was having moved the XP install files. I installed from the harddrive, but after I got everything installed, I deleted the install folder from my harddrive.

This happened to me... i use iconpackager...

have you recently installed iconworkshop?

What i ended up doing was checking the shell32 in reshacker... i found out that those icons were missing, inserted the ones i wanted, replaced shell... voila

Then.. after a week or so... they got back to normal, the reason was that the icon information was being gathered from mydocs.dll in system32 in the windows folder and explorer.exe for the my computer icon...

I have the same problem......could it be something with the "LastGood" dir in the WINDOWS folder??? I'm really sick of it. And it also "resets" your shell32.dll. I know cause i installed Flyakite's new sysfiles.....at first boot they're all okay.....but after reboot WINDOWS replaces some files.....BUT WHYYYYYYY, it never did before. I'm on SP1.....

It's the nvidia 52.16 that did it.......now I downgraded to 44.03, and flyakites system files along with everything else works like a charm.....

Those Nvidia drivers are so weird, when i use an old one (43.23) my yzdock us fast (considerably) and runs at 60fps, however, if i install a new one.. it will lower donw to half that!

A quick rollback will get my yzdock to remain snappy!

Try it if any of you have this problem
