Opendarwin

Anyone have the latest release of OpenDarwin on their system?

(Y)

I just wanted to see some screenshots if anyone else has it loaded.

it looks like anyother linux prompt. It might say darwin someplace.

It doesn't actually install on any PC.

I know its actually an x86 binary, but they have like ONE driver for an IDE controller.

So that means that almost everyone can't run it.

Hahahaha!

I guess OpenDarwin has a lonnnnnng way to go then before it ever works on many PCs ;)

I read that Apple (the sole maker of Darwin) does not plan to add anymore x86 support for Darwin. Darwin 7.0 will come out anytime, Try it, but it probably wont work.

Darwin ISN'T OS X, It has a WM (cant remember which one) but its not OS X's. if you want panther, and want it to actually be like panther. Get the following

FreeBSD latest version, And it has better harware support.

KDE (KDE wont work on Darwin) or GNOME if it works in BSD (not sure)

A panther theme.

Mac OS X for x86 will probably never happen. There is a rare occasion, that Darwin will work on a certain Laptop made by IBM. Contra is right, Darwin and OpenDarwin has almost no hardare support.
