Os X Like Screen Saver For Winxp

Hi all,

I'm aware that a lot of people, myself included, have been looking for a screen saver that does that facsinating fade in/out, zoom in/out effect like OS X.

Well, it seems someone over at E-Maculation.com found one.

"I found something I have never seen reported on your site, or any other Mac emulation sites. I'm sure you've used OSX before. One of the screensavers in it zooms/pans/fades through various images very slowly. It's quite a nice effect.

Someone made a similar screensaver for Windows, making use of DirectX. Here it is:

When combined with the wallpaper from OSX, it's dead-on. The only thing it doesn't do is smoothly fade in/out of the desktop when it starts and stops, but I asked the author to add that capability. I haven't heard back from him, and that was yesterday."

There's the info. I just tried it myself a few moment ago, and I must say, it's pretty damn close to the screen saver I've seen on OS X.

Actually the beach pictures can be extracted easily from the "Beach slidesaver" application by right-clicking the app icon and pointing to "View Package contents". All the pictures are located in the resource directory.

Perhaps someone with an OSX box can do the extracting. I'm now off from school now .. I cannot do any for the moment.

Perhaps the pictures extracted can be used with the "Nostalgic Screensaver" programme... ?

oh folks! By the way I have tried that program with my Abstract desktop pictures. works unbelievably well! Just look exactly the same as the Abstract slidesaver! You got to try it!

Now we just need a wallpaper changer like OS X (fades between wallpapers). I love that effect. That, and the flurry screensaver, soooo smooth

Thanks; that's a really useful screensaver. But does anyone know where I could find some large, very high quality images of the iMac which would look good with this screensaver ? If anyone could reccomend some sources that would be really useful

Excellent screensaver. This is somewhat of the effect I was talking about in my earlier post about the os x screensavers. Now if we could only get the fade in/out to the desktop and back.

Ya I agree with ricky. We need those real pics from os x. I know exactly the ones he's talking about. They are very scenic. If anyone has access to those pics or an os x computer it would be great if you could just extract those.

Run this thing with Vital Desktop and now I've got an animated desktop just like my real mac beside me. Since I put the wallpapers of my mac on the pc, I can almost see no difference. Now if only the screensaver had some panning while zooming in or out, then it would be perfect.

anyone have the beach pictuers....i have a screensaver now which is just a slideshow of them and i dont know how to get the pictures from it.........anyone know how or have them?

Just did some searching. This thing is really neat... the background changes and so smoothly while I browse. It does jitter the dock a bit though. Even WinFX shadows work great with it. Only problem is icons on the desktop lose their transparency so I removed all except the recycle bin. Any idea on how to remove the recycle bin? or any idea on how to fix the transparency? I thought about using desktopX for the icons but that's more load on the system.

I had noticed that too. I'm not using it because of that.

You can remove the recycle bin using teakui. I just keep shortcuts to my 2 hard drives as desktop icons.
