hmm.. I read about it at spymac. Doesnt seem too appealing  . It seems the traffic lights aren't that nice looking and there is some theming inconsistency..

Apple, what hast thou done! Lets expect 10.2.3.1... or at least lets hope that the problems experienced were not related to the update..

#6584

Really? Do you have a screenshot of the Traffic Lights to share?

Yes, the traffic lights for the brushed iApps is depressed into the brushed surface a bit. I happed to like it. If you consider that the brushed look is already a departure from the standard aqua for the rest of the UI, it fits better than the bubbly traffic lights on the brushed surface.

As for themes, you have to disable Duality (which you should always do when applying a major update). I hear that you should be able to reapply the theme after the update, if not then you will have to wait for an update to Duality and or the themes.

Remember that themes are not officially supported in OS X by Apple just like third-party .mstyles are not supported by MS.

I see what you mean. BRUTAL.

EDIT: Guess this means jef has to update his iApp Control :)

yes i noticed that taha and all, i dont seem to like it more than the previous bubbly look.

but it still looks good, so its fine :)..

Taha, unfortunatly i kinda doubt they will change it back..

but oh well - its really neglectable for me :D

this is funny

kol over at studio28 happened to have a theme that was brushed with depressed buttons

i guess that he knew something we didnt

#6634

Actually that wasn't Kol's handiwork. He just ported Max Rudberg's brushed theme. It was Max who thought of that.

Oh btw I have seen a theme that is updated to have special bitmaps to support an iapp such as ichat so it seems that it is now a style that can be changed rather than them just changing the buttons on the titlebar. It's a new skin class and that's why themes need to be updated.

I could be wrong but that's what it looked like to me.

I'm thinking of adding those special borders as a substyle in my WB skins. Only problem is they have round bottoms and Y'z shadow doesn't have a fill in option yet.

#6640

Ok, after some research I found out that it is kind of a new button class. The themers have to recompile their themes to account for it or they don't show up (they are there just invisible). All the bitmaps are in the extras resources file. There is a whole thread about these new buttons at macnn.com.

I find it quite ironic that Apple wants consistency and discourages custom controls when they turn around and make some themselves.

ahhhh its ugly!......why didn;t they make them have more of an inset like the play, next etc buttons in itunes?
