A Poll On If I Should Have This On My Site

I am finishing my site and I was wondering something. I made a dock along the top that has icons to the main sections of my site.

With here.

Without here.

The reasons I can think of to have the dock is that it will cut down on the text I have on the side making seem smaller and more convenient.

The reasons I have not to have the dock is that everything will be accesable on the front page and there will be more room for content.

I am asking this because I cannot get a definite answer from people that I ask. Also, I am on 1024x768 and it does seem like it takes up too much real estate.

Note: The site is not optimized yet and will have a few bugs. Also, the links do not work. It is just a testing ground.

But i would go without the dock... its been done way too much and it eats up a lot of precious pixel real estate.

IMHO a dock on a website is only any good if you can make it in flash where it magnifies etc. But in any event it would only serve as eye candy.

If you are going to use static pngs then I think without is better.

i'd say no dock - people will be able to navagate around without it, and plus the folder icon doesn't mesh very well with the cheese grater bg.

It loads in under 5 seconds for me.. :rolleyes:

I'd say it looks better without the 'dock'. Nice work, I can't wait till you get everything sorted.
