Mobydock Doesn't Start

When I open Mobydock, the Windows error reporting window pops up. What's wrong? I have DirectX 9.0b and Windows XP Professional SP1. :(

I have the same problem.

Remember that MobyDock is a Graphics enhanced dock. Meaning that it could be you graphics card that is the problem. I know that it has problems with TNT/2 cards.

#76283

I have the same problem also.

All I get is Mobydock has encountered an error and needs to close?

How do you make this program open?

#76554

i has happened to me, and my solution, as rough and harsh as it may be is infalible...

Got into the items.ini inside the dockconfig folder

Remove the entry for the latest shortcut you placed in the dock before it started to mess up... open it and drag the shorcut into it again... if it happens again it prolly is the icon youre using for the shortcut... try a different one.

Hope it helps ;)

Cheers

if you have that error

go to itemlist.ini delete all items and restart.

if that doesnt work, than download md again and use its new itemlist.ini with your own folder of mobydock.

you must do that, if you dont, you wont be able to use the best dock around

I get problems when trying to run it from the start folder, it never quite starts fully, then I have to Kill all threads and restart it manually at which point it runs properly!

I have the same problem.

This only started on the latest release.

So if I have the problem, its serious moby, get on it. ;)

(I was joking by the way, please dont take offence oh famous moby)

Those of you that still can't get the program to work... mine is giving me the same error. I finally read the readme file and is says that you must have 32 bit color depth. If you have anything less you are out of luck.

The problem I'm having is that MD would be very buggy after install but then would seem to stable off. After I log off my PC and log back on, the dock won't restart automatically and when I click on the icon to restart MD, it would cease to run. Just get error windows. I would have to uninstall/reinstall after that. But then problem repeats itself.

I love the idea of Moby Dock and I hope a more stable version comes down the pike because I would LOVE to have this app.

Keep up the good work. You're in the right direction. (Y)

Well yeah ive had that "dock opens whenever it wants to" thing... ive tried putting it in the start up folder and creating a shcedule task on startup...

Any other clues?

I have 32 bit color and it still won't open !!

I was having problems with MD too, so I reinstalled and it worked again. I found this funny, and since I don't like when things stop working and I don't know why, I looked at the config files, after some tests, I found the problem was in item.ini

I looked and remembered last time I used moby, an empty slot had added itself (well I didn't thik to that problem at first !). I looked in the config file and found this "item" :

[item Nr. 5]

Display-Name=

Execution-Path=

Execution-Option=

Working-Directory=

Image-Filename=

Application-Type=-1

ItemLocked=false

ShowCommand=normal

I found this strange and removed it (what the point of having an all empty item, huh ?) and it work again. Hope this may help... :smartass:

when i run it, and i looked in my processes in the task manager...it runs the process, my screen flickers, but nothing loads and the process ends itself.

any ideas?
