I'm not sure what that has to do with any bugs. As well I am sorry to say that I don't have an Aqua theme for it.
Copied from the "0.67 is released" thread...
Installed 0.67, ran fine for about 15 minutes, then motion of the dock got real sluggish and "jerky" instead of smooth. Quit and restarted and it's back to smooth. It didn't seem to be using a lot of CPU or memory according to task manager when it was acting sluggish...I'll keep an eye on it to see if it's repeatable.
I also notice memory use creeps up as things are clicked on and it doesn't go back down when they are closed. When first launched, my dock uses about 10.5 Meg, but when I open and close the Moby control panel a couple times, open a couple programs and folders and close them, Moby's now up to 11.3 Meg used.
There's a lot right with this dock. Many needed and great attempt for more features but:
Since I'm only able to put 28-29 icons it becomes limited compared to Y's dock or Objectdock with 45+ icons.
1. One is not able to reach end icons when fully loaded, in the other 2 docks the icons shift so that you are able to see the icons at the edges. This alone limits the usage of this dock for me.
Because of that I cannot use this as my default dock. If you have a 19"-21" monitor then the number of icons limit may not be a problem but for me it is.
2. The scrolling of the icons is not as fast or as smooth as Y's dock or Objectdock
This dock has a lot going for it once small glitches can be overcomed. It's heading in the right direction with worthwhile innovations, but it is not there yet.
Keep it up! may be headed for the top spot with a bullet.
I tried it, I liked it, but it's too slow for my needs. I'll use Y'z and Object Dock for my needs.
The real turn off for me was not being able to minimize apps by clicking on them.
Sorry Moby.
Peace,
Grusic
it runs too choppy and slow for me to be able to effectively use. OD, which has become my dock of choice runs very smoothly, although I wish it had the built in menus.
Yeah, it's slooow, even in my new computer! I'm running it on an Atlhon XP 1800+ 512 Ram with GeForce 4 MX 440 and new drivers (Detonator). And i also got an irritating bug. Look:

Daaaargh! The features are nice, but i'll stick to ObjectDock. Anyway, keep up the good work!
I have no Complaints running great here ![]()
hi,
the cut off icons are often related to the use of yzshadow or windowfx. in case you use one of them, have you added mobydock to the exclude-list of the programs ?
moby
i've also been getting the cut-off icon bug. i'm not using y'z shadow or windowfx. sometimes it seems that when there are around 10 or more icons in the dock it happens, sometimes it seems to happen when either the background or the icons transparency is lower than 100%, and sometimes when the icons in the dock are very large. wish i knew what the problem was exactly.
heh, good luck moby ![]()
Moby,
Your dock runs fine here This is a place for bug reports so my report is, no bugs here. The dock is great and is improving with every build. Keep up the good work!
Nope, not Winfx nor yz programs. Just the ObjectBar, and a lot of icons in Mobydock... any idea?
Moby, your Dock KICK ASS! And I like so much!. There is no bugs, to me. If I can req something, its support 16Bit color. Nothing more!
Thanks Moby!!
The dock is really to slow ![]()
I don't have a problem with speed usually, however some programs that take control of the screen cause mobydock to run really, really slow. WMP as well as some games do this. also, if I click on a mpg or avi, so that it appears in the explorer "preview pane" then mobydock slows down, even if I don't play the movie. Also, some games cause this as well. if I don't play a game or watch a video, then mobydock runs great for hours with no loss of speed.
another problem is that drag-and-drop of new items onto the dock does NOT work if the background's alpha-transparency is set fully to zero. I like having no background, and for the longest time I couldn't get drag-and-drop to work, so I assumed it was broken. then, I made the background slightly visible, and drag-and-drop worked! now, I keep it at an alpha-transparency of 1. ![]()
other than that, I haven't found any other bugs. I found mobydock to be more stable than objectdock, and since I'm running win2k, I can't try yz dock. I'm impressed with how slick it works - as long as I don't play a game or video.
although the following aren't bugs, I'd really like to see:
a tasks area that showed all running tasks (and an ability to single out some tasks so they aren't included);
a way to "refresh" mobydock from the mobydock control panel, so that it rereads it's config files again. before I got drag-and-drop working, I had to manually edit the "items.ini" file to add shortcuts, then manually exit and restart mobydock for them to appear;
minimize an open app by clicking on the mobydock shortcut icon;
a way to add a blank, geneneric shortcut to the dock from the md control panel;
a way to add shortcuts that are "drawers" - clicking on one will open a sub-dock with other items on it;
howz bout a blinky "internet connection" icon for the dock, similar to the one in the tray? the clock is a dynamic icon, so how bout one for my dl/ul?? I miss having that little handy indicator....
oh yeah, I used regedit to move the Recycle Bin location from the desktop to My Computer (cause I hate having it on the desktop) - doing that makes the mobydock trash icon not work. is there a way to get mobydock pointed to the right location?? I tried making a shortcut to file:///::{blah blah} but that didn't work....
moby, thanks for a great program! I love it!
hi,
thanks for the suggestions.
concerning alpha transparency of the background : i need 'some' background color for drag&drop. if you set it to zero. windows will not recognize the mouse-drag event. as you suggested, set the transparency for the background to 1. you will not "see" the background, but the events will work.
for animations and slowliness:
i am working on a completly new drawing-engine and i hope that will vastly improve the speed and interoperability with explorer and other apps.
for the recycle-bin:
i take the trash location from the registry. so i really have no clue at the moment, why you cannot use it ! maybe there are other/additional keys you have to change !
stay tuned,
moby
Hi Moby,
One thing which I like about Y'z dock is that you're able to add command line arguments.
I use Mozilla for my mail, but a different web browser. To start the mozilla mail application it takes the command "mozilla.exe -mail". Currently entering this in MobyDock this gives an error, so I have to get around it by starting the Mozilla browser, then switching to mail within there (which takes a while to load it all up including the browser).
It'd be really nice if I could specify my command line arguments in the mobydock item properties so I can go straight to mail!
Cheers and thanks for what you've done so far
hi,
the command-line arg is already in, just hidden in the items.ini-file and cannot be added via properties so far . it is the third parameter in the items.ini-file in the corresponding line of the item. for an example look at the clock item. so, as a workaround, you can edit it manually !
i will add it to the properties soon !
moby
should it also show running tasks in it? or is that not yet a feature of the dock
when i open other programs and then minimize it, no way to get back to it except alt-tab. just wondering.

cool! I was wondering about that! I had to make some batch files to do what I wanted, but this way is much cleaner. can't wait for the next version!
I did experience a bug recently that was nearly a show-stopper. it took a while to get mobydock working again, and as I discovered, it was repeatable.
my geforce 4 has s-video out, so the other night I connected my computer to the tv to watch a dvd. before I could watch tv, I had to change my resolution to 640x480. the color depth (32bit) stayed the same.
after I was done, I changed the display from tv back to analog in the nvidia control panel, and set the resolution back to 1280x1024. unfortunately, mobydock refused to start, giving some memory addressing error (which I forgot to write down, even though I saw it about a dozen times....
)
basically, mobydock didn't work anymore. I backed-up all my mobydock files, and deleted everything, and reinstalled it, and it still didn't work.
To get it working again, I had to change the color-depth from 32bit to 16bit, reboot, change the color depth back to 32bit, reboot, and then the newly installed mobydock worked! woohoo! so I copied my backup icons and items.ini file into the new mobydock folder, and mobydock worked great again.... except when I tried to copy over my old settings.ini file - then mobydock refused to start again. I had to restore the default settings.ini file, and re-tweak mobydock through it's control panel to get it back the way I wanted it.
the next night, I wanted to finish the dvd, so again I hooked my computer back up to the tv, and viola, the same thing happened when I changed back to analog display at 1280x1024.....
here's a copy of my current settings.ini file, which the newly installed mobydock choked on. (it works great now, but was really puzzling that I couldn't just copy this file over the default, start mobydock, and have it work):

this bug was repeatable for me, but I'd rather not go through it again. ![]()
PS: another feature I would love in the new mobydock would be the ability to add comments to both the items.ini and settings.ini files. I'm sure I'd be the only one to use it though.
Using Object Dock, I'd really like to try MobyDock, however... I cant use it.
I loaded the 0.67 Version and unzipped it. Clicking on the *.exe, somethingf weird happens. The screen is filled with some sort of a window. This window is translucent. It has a striped (OS-X like) background (I do have WB3.5 installed with an OS-X skin, btw). Under the translucent window, the desktop is visible. The desktop reacts to movements of the mouse, for example: the MobyDock shows the names of the apps that should be there and magnifies them. The icons do not show, however. Mouseclick go through the upmost translucent window, but have no effect, i.e. if I click an explorer window, the explorer titlebar comes briefly to the top and nothing happens.
I get out of it with the Gate's Claw (Ctrl-Alt-Del) , starting the Tasmanager and killing MobyDock.exe.
... Any Idea what i am doing wrong?
Is your color depth set to 32-bit?
