Hi all - I'm new to MobyDock and I just downloaded it. Here's my issue:
Its really, really slow. When I run a cursor over the dock icons take a second or more to magnify. Its virtually un-usable.
I'm running Windows XP SP1 on a Dell Lattitude 640/512MB, 2GHz processor, Mobility Radeon 7500 graphic card. I should have plenty of horsepower.
I loaded YzDock and it flies, just like the Apple dock does on my iMac G4 at home.

Have you upgraded your DirectX to v9.0? I bet you haven't 
I think MobyDock is using DirectX 9 Engine if I'm not mistaken.
Try it. I switched from YzDock to ObjectDock, then to MobyDock. But again, everyone has different opinion :naughty:
Your video card is pretty slow,thats the problem.
The reason OD and Y'z will run better on that system is that they use the Processor (which you have a fast one), and Moby-dock uses the Graphics card, its fully accelerated like the real OSX dock.
But try updating to the latest drivers from ati.com.
I'm running an HP Pavilion with an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.67 gHz, 256 MB DDR RAM, WinXP SP1 with DirectX 9.0, and i have an ATI All-in-Wonder 8500 w/64 MB DDR RAM and it is still slow. Stick with Yz Dock man, Moby needs some work.

have you seen how flawless its on my system?
1.8ghz intel, Radeon AIW 9700 pro (128mb) 768rambus, dx 9.
Drivers and DX 9 is all what you need (and an AGP graphics card, which both you and smcdermott seem to have). I HAD a gF 4 mx 440 with 64mb and it was working in the same speed and FPS my 9700pro goes now.
Stick with new drivers and moby and you'll understand why.
Hey all, thanks for the useful information...but still no luck.
I already had upgraded to DirectX 9.0
I had an old driver for my ATI Radeon 7500 card, so I went to ATI to get the latest. After a painful upgrade process, it didn't work (screwed up my display really bad). So I went to the Dell site and got the latest ATI driver from them for my specific laptop model. I upgraded to that one, but still have the same issues.
My ATI driver is now at version 6.14.1.6292. I can't seem to get it to load a driver more recent than that.
Any other thoughts? In the interim, I'm using ObjectDock. It works, but I like the features of MobyDock better. ObjectDock flies speedwise.

you can try to download driver form http://www.omegacorner.com/index_ati.html, i also use ati7500 on my laptop, and mobydock work smooth, so go and try.

Thanks. I was having a heck of a time installing the drivers from ATI last night. I never did get the latest ones successfully installed. The Omega one worked great. Rebooted and brought up MobyDock. Its real fast now, just like ObjectDock. Now I just need to decide which one I like better...

Has anyone noticed high VM usage on new Moby recently?
I'm running an Intel P4 2.4Ghz Northwood w/ 1Gb memory & an ATI 9700 Pro w/ latest drivers.
Mobydock runs excellent BUT system resources are idleing @ 89%-99% on Mobydock app. Everything else running on my system are operating @ norm. If I set the priority to LOW... It idles from 49%-99%...
I'm using the Weather & E-mail docklet featurettes.
Object Dock & Yz NEVER peaked to 99% & stayed within the norm.
What's the deal?
