[help]windows 98 Disk Space Errors

I'm trying to copy some files of a backup CD I made a while back, and it's saying that I have run low on disk space. However, I have nearly 3GB of free space on my HD. I got this same error when scanning for viruses.

Any ideas on what the REAL problem is? Or some solutions on how to fix this?

How big is your disk?

If it's over a certain size (I forget what size), and you're running FAT32 (which you invariably are - I doubt you're on FAT16), then Win98 may not be able to use the full size of your disk.

In that case you can do one of two things, really:

• Try to ignore its whinging
  
• Repartition your disk so that you have no one partition bigger than the size limit
