Aqua-Soft Forumsmy monitor is 1024x768 highest and it is supposed to only do up to 800x600 75hz. for that reason 1024x768 only runs at 60hz. maybe i could use a prog like reschanger to change to 1152x864 56hz or something. also it is broken. not just small.

kills my eyes.. i picked this over Pe7er's simply b/c the flat screen.. seems to give me a bit more desktop space w/ the same resolution..

u know u can overclok ur vertical frequency...
i had the same monitor and i port it to 70Hz for1600*1200px
use PowerStrip for this

I beg to differ with u on this one.
People that dont no much about computers or are just using computers for the first time dont realise that changing something as simple as the screen resolution can actualy be done. They tend to think that since the computer came out the box with that resolution thats how it is meant to be. I see it all the time people designing sites in flash to make sure that someone with the 800 x 600 res would still see it without fail. It sucks but it is true people are just stupid when it comes to buying computers and im not trying to point fingers or anything here im speaking in general.
There are surveys all over the net about the most commonly used screen resolutions people are using.
personaly on my desktop im using 1280 x 1024 on 17" crt and on my laptop im using 1600 x 1200 on 15" UXGA TFT LCD and cant run it smaller unless i use 800 x 600 because it has exactly 1600 x 1200 pixels to the screen so using any other res than those two and everything is out of shape so i use the larger of the two because i like small things on my desktop and all the free space.

Alot of people who know little about computers do use the default res (usually 800*600 on Windows). A friend of mine had a brand new CRT and only used 800*600 until I showed him how to change it and he complained if it went higher than 1024*768 because everything "got small".. Even though his would go upto 1440 or something.
Bah. I could never go back to anything lower than 1280x1024, there just isn't enough screen real estate to have everything open.

I HATE it when people say that, especially when you try to explain to them the benefits and they just give you a blank stare.
I wonder what size of font you guys are using with the VisualStyles? Small or Large or Extra Large? I got a 17" flat CRT and is running 1280 x 980 with Small Font...everything's just fine...but if I switch to a higher res with small font...god....things look tiny... >.<
