128x128 Icon Application

I did a search using the word "Jaguar" on the Wincustomize homepage and read on one of the submissions that there was a utility you could use that would increase your desktop icons size to 128x128 resolution. The article stated that the author put 128x128 in the yahoo search engine and came up with this app. I figured someone somewhere has heard about it, or even may be using it. Any comments?

A simple way to get 128 x 128 icons on the desktop is thru the registry.

Go to Start -> Run and type regedit.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/WindowMetrics.

In the right-pane you'll see a String value called Shell Icon Size. Change that value to 128 and close regedit.

Now open the Display Properties dialog box and go to the Appearance tab. Click Advanced. In the Item list, select Icon. Notice that the Icon size box shows 72. Click OK

You'll see a Please Wait dialog pop-up. Once that's done you should have 128 x 128 icons throught your system.

P.S There's no way to get 128 x 128 icons only on the desktop and keep the rest of your icons (eg. Start Menu) at a different icon size. This is a system-wide setting.

I read that is one of the options you have to enlarge the icons to 128x128 resolution but it affects all the icons. :(

If you want only your desktop icons 128x128, you have to use third party apps. Afaik, you have to options: Samurize and DesktopX.

Using different sizes in windows without apps isn't possible unfortunately.
