The Ipod 40 Gb And The People Who Bought A 30 Gb

I have to fulfill for a very long time on it to save a dream to me: one iPod. As I then ordered on Cyberport.de an iPod and I was pleased when it finally arrived the new iPod (40 GB)came on the market.

I personally find it very unfair that Apple offers to the new iPod 40 GB for a lower price than the 30 one. I mean Apple could have taken it before the 30 from the assortment or such a thing something similar, because I feel much dissapointed (verarscht) to have 579 euro paid around an world-exclusive MP3 player to have and thereafter a better also still more cheaply one is published. Clearly one could say hmm I had pitch, but nevertheless is this behavior genuinly probably not quite-manufactured and very customer-unfriendly.

Also I would like to complain about this, but i don´t really know where.

So can anyone please help me?

Also should i do this?

Sorry for my bad english (Translation from google and me)

If you don´t understand something please ask but please answer because this is very important to me.

Thanks

Could you not return the one you have bought, get a refund, then buy the 40Gb?

#71635

I would like to but first I got only two weeks for sending it back and also now my iPod is used so I just want to complain

#71645

I don't know if this will satsify you, but you might consider writing (a real letter) to a consumer advocacy group. In the US there is a large one called the Better Business Bureau. If enough people complain about such treatment, some action might be taken by that group against Apple. You have every right to be pissed off. Sounds shi!t.

In the meantime, if I were you I would send one of these :moon: to Apple with a letter explaining your anger and disappointment.

With technology, waiting always gives you more at a lower price...in this case you were unlucky enough to get something just a little bit before the new and improved version was launched. The way I see it, you have no right to complain because 1) you received exactly what you purchased 2) come on, 30GB is not enough for a sh##load of MP3s??

#71672

This is something that apple does everytime, I know people that bought the old ipod and 1 week later the new ipod came out, offered more space for the the same price, I mean there is no advertisement for you to know if a new model is coming out, thing that happens with other technological products.

Every product will become olders, and cheaper as new and more advanced products appear, it was just bad luck what happened to you and happens to many apple customers and also other products. It happens to all, in many products, and I guess that you cant really do something about it, unless you return it and say that you are unsatisfied with it or something. They are not gonna exchange it that easy for a 40gb, or I dont understand what you plan to do, you want your money back or a 40gb ipod?

It happens with many products, from cars to any technology product, you can buy something good today and tomorrow might not be the best, and it always and will happen with technology products.

#71675

I don't think there is anything you can do (apart from sell your current iPod and try buying the newer one).

This is the only thing I dislike with Apple; How they do not notify of upcoming updated products. It would save so much hassle to say a month or so before hand that they are going to update a product or even added the notification on people attempting to order items that are due to be updated.

Of course it's the same with technology (as people have already stated), it will always become better and cheaper, and you will always be able to buy more with less in the future. If you saved spending $1,000 on an Apple product twenty years ago you'd most probubly be able to buy something over a hundred times better. But during that time you would have been coping without.

Come on Apple! Tell us about updates!

I love my iPod and so I don´t want the money I would like to get the new 40 Gb but i think thats really far from reality. Maybe you´re right new products come out everyday, but I think that in such a short time Apple only wants to make money with the "old" iPod and that isn´t fair. I know that everyone has to make money to pay fodd and so on but Apple wants to be different so they shouldn´t act in such a way.

@ji eun in Germany there is a same agency but i don´t know the name at this time but i will search for it.

Nice idea

Does anyone know if I can write a complainletter to apple, especially where?

guys, calm down!

does anybody know the full name of Apple©? I do. the full name (a part of the full name, it isn't the full name yet) is found on the bottom of every page on www.apple.com. I can read there "Copyright © 2003 Apple Computer, Inc." which identifies Apple as a company in my eyes. so, what is the aim of a company? making some money. so how does apple make money? with selling iPods for example. you bought one, the one you ordered and there is no chance of getting a 40gb one. what business would that be? taking back a used 30gb just because you weren't informed, that there will be a successor of the 30gb version and giving you a new device for free or even give you some money for taking the new one? oh god, inform yourself about being a company and rules of making money. I'm sorry, noone has deceived you, that's live. and I'm sure there were rumours about the upcoming 40gb version, I read articles on cnet.com about the upcoming iPods together with iTrip (radio transmitter) and the photostorage thing from belkin. although I'm happy with my 40gb iPod I got on thursday, Apple didn't a perfect job: it doesn't work with my NEC POWERED (an industry standard) and Microsoft certified firewire-card. argh...

so writing apple some letters and sueing them with the help of customer rights services or whatever those thingies are, isn't going to change their behavior, I think, it will just make them acting even more strict in similar cases.

I know many "Companys" who take the piss out of some peoples and make their money with that, but most of them are very unserious and distribute their products on tele shopping shows or something like that (but don´t understand me wrong i don´t ment that there are no serious tele shopping shows;)

I know and you know that Apple is a serious firm or Company or whatever and so the can´t make their money with such methods thats strictly unfair and won´t richen my life which is the function i exspect from a product i buy for such a high price, because i don´t know if you got so much money, i don´t and so i think i should get the best for it

Also a Company wouldn´t want me to buy a product or wait for a product because of rumors then advertising would became senseless

#71766

think about it: do you need 10GB MORE? you already have 30, are 40 really necessary? I don't know...

it's not a matter of being serious or not, it's a matter of being a company or not. I really know how you feel (nachfühlen), I would feel the same - I actually felt the same many many times since computers are my hobby - but think about it, no one acted unfair. ever heard about the new OS for pocket pc's? HP gives it away for free to customers which bought a HP PPC between 23.3. and 23.9., Fujitsu-Siemens wants 24euros for it, medion doesn't give it away at all, if I'm right and if you bought your PPC not in this period of time you have to pay 60euros for the update. is this fair? what about a loox (fujitsu-siemens) user which got his loox on 29.9. in the hope to upgrade it? bööö.... 60 euros....

that is live, and you are alive, so you have to accept and live with it.

#71769

I don´t need 10 Gb more I just want to complain about having paid more than I have to ONLY a few weeks later, thats the point in this case. I understand it when somebody paid 1000 euro for a 486 and now you got soething which is a hundred or thousand times faster but between now and the past are YEARS not weeks, but i agree to you thats life, but i also think that if nobody does something against this the industry whill piss us all off and thats not the way it used to be

#71776

I see, you made progress :)

now there is one more thing you should unterstand: how long does the iPod exist? how many incarnations did he have? so *a few weeks* is quite long, you have to see that. I'm with you, it would piss me off if Apple would lower the price for the 40gb iPod next week, but I bought mine last thursday so there is no way to get some money back. this is not about pissing customers, this is about how long you want to wait to get something out of fear buying something outdated.

I went to a shop, said "give me this white-black box there" and had my iPod within two minutes. so if you order yours via a webshop with 2 weeks delivery time, this isn't Apples problem. you should mention that as well.

Fighting Apple over this issue is like Don Quixote fighting a windmill... If you do end up with a positive outcome, good for you! Other than that, good luck!!!

#71780

You can't blame Apple, they are a business, that's the thing with capatalist, :6 at capatalist. Computer products update everyday. When was the last time you saw nVidia, ATI, or any other motherboard or computer part manufatures announce when they are going to debut a product. AMD's 64 processor was totally not forseen. It's a business practice that has worked well for Apple.

#71785

fighting any company about such an issue is like Don Quixoting :woot:, in general...

thank you wizard, you gave me the word I was looking for: capitalism! but don't :6 on it, because of it you sit in front of a computer, surf the internet via broadband connection and have a warm chambre (I hope so...)

Amen

True, but I can't live without it. And I'm on 56k, with Juno. -_-

:( I feel with you, I was too a long time ago...

#71793

No thats not right it took only a two or three days, but yeah it would piss you of when apple lowers the price but its different from bringing out a new model.

Also i don´t want to "fight" against apple i love their innovations and their products but money making became a too important thing in society

#71817

uuuuuh... let's stop here. capitalism rules, it ruled quite a long time and I think it will continue to rule, so it's useless to fight about it.

#71838

I could release a 20 page report that I did on this topic but I won't. I'm not kidding, it wasn't even for anybody else. I was just angered, really angered.

I know It's useless to fight about it, but I just hope that one time I can influence somebody.

Also, schaggo, I'm sorry but this forum software won't let you add an image for your personal tag. :(

no matter what you buy, all tech prodict get old and cheaper, that is ho tech works. imagine how ibook users felt when the ibook g4 were released, the thing is that apple wont let people know about upcoming products. But it will be the same, the thing is that you bought a expensive product and it hurts you, but no matter the price, it happens.

Absolutley true. Tech obsoletes faster than anything else out there(well, maybe not faster than milk).

And ESPECIALLY iPods. How many revisions have they had? 70?

I wish the PC I bought a year and a half ago was the fastest thing out there, but its not. BUT, it doesn't mean its not good, the PC is fine for what I do, and I dont plan on upgrading.
