They Want To Control Everything!

I got this from w1h.net

One of the most popular webhosting and I am an active member at their forum. It sad when this thing happens. We are just an ant and they are the elephant.

Regrettably we have today been served a legal notice by the Microsoft corporation stating that we have allowed our servers to be used to host illegal copies of their software.

The notice states that we have 3 days to comply with their request to terminate the 2 user accounts in question.

While we determine the users who have done this the site will remain suspended until further notice.

We would like to express our concern over this matter and resolve to immediately refer the names and addresses of those concerned to the authorities and Microsoft without delay.

The free service we offer is of course open to abuse but having been served with such a notice from microsoft the issue of whether the site will indeed re open to new offers is subject to further consideration.

All hosting accounts will remain open until further notice, however it is strongly advised in light of this notice that you takea backup of your account to prevent any possible data loss.

you know what they say, "you play with fire, you get burned" it is sad that two reckless members can take down a whole forum.

NEWS!: two people were found insulting the government over a tapped phoneline. Until the two culprits are found, Bell Canada will shut down its lines to meet the government's demands.

'you have 3 days'? what power does ms have besides money? they should be able to go after the two individuals, but not the service. Jerks.

Yeah...thats is true.

w1h didn't done anything wrong. They just want to help people by offering free web hosting. Of course they cannot control what people put on their site because they don't have money as microsoft have. Microsoft should think a way to prevent people steal their software i.e. reduce their price.

Uh I don't think they are doing anything wrong! Microsoft isn't shutting down the forums and the hosting, it's the company itself. Microsoft is giving it a time frame to remove something illegal that they are hosting. The webhost is the one shutting things down, but only because they allowed illegal content to be hosted with them. I don't think they intentionally allowed it, but it's still illegal. Come on guys, I know there are a lot of people that love to sit around and bash Microsoft, but this isn't out of line. They could have sued the webhost without notice, but they didn't.
