[found] Itunes Always Ontop Plugin
Thank you for the find. Hopefully it's version depentent.
edit: It works!! Just follow the three step process, start it, you have to click it once so it becomes the front window and it stays. Awsome!
SWEET EPILEPSY!!!! :woot:
wow, that was easy. I kindof wish it was glue to desktop though :canadian:
This guy fixed my #1 problem with iTunes for Windows, god bless. Now if he can remove the taskbar entry for iTunes and I will be a happy man.
there wasnt a "plug-ins" dir in my iTunes folder sooo i made one called that and it doesnt work

Keith, try:
C:\Documents and Settings\[userName]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins
and switch itunes to minimode to get it working

Man this is brilliant! This community is coming up with all sorts of brilliant enhancements to iTunes that make it even better!
This always-on-top plugin is exactly what I was wanting!
Just a little update.. I didn't know iTunes supported Plugins LOL... Well i downloaded the SDK and took a look at it.. Pretty nifty.. hehe I recreated the Always_on_top program which was very very simple.. itunes sends back messages for a whole slew of things you do in the player.. hehe.. Somebody requested that u have to option to remove the Tray Icon.. I'll be working on this as well as the Always on top and ability to turn it off/on..
Hey how about Some "HOTKEYS" for this stuff while I'm at it LOL.. Your not limited to just what iTunes offers in terms of programming.. you can expand all the way into the Windows API
I'll have something for you all later today.. cya..

This is brilliant!
i think my fonts mod is pretty perfect too :6
well i dont use the Always On Top plugin, but now i need to make support for it in iTunes Titlebar Skinner ![]()

I think he meant to get rid of the taskbar item and have it only in the system tray. That option would have it in the taskbar, but not in the tray. The iTunes in the taskbar takes up too much space for what it's worth.
thanks for this great plug in (Y)

Now that I would love!!! (Y)
I'm working on a new plug-in.. Currently, the plugin is functional.. It displays the original "Visualization" that comes with iTunes so you really don't know its there.. The programming is pretty simple because well its c++.. LOL Anyhow.. I've implemented the Always on Top function and am working on the Hide from TaskBar function as well.. Then I'll be working on having Menu Items added to the existing iTunes System Tray Icon Menu for my plugin options..
This way, you can turn "always on top" on/off or hide/unhide iTunes from the TaskBar... Let me know if you all think of any other little things this plugin should do (within reason)..

Sweet evo, can I call you that, or just evolution? Either way thanks for the info!

Glue to desktop, glue to desktop, glue to desktop!
but still 'clickable'
what do u mean glue to desktop ? sort of like making it like an icon or something ?
i can make it so that the desktop becomes the parent window of iTunes and ecapsulates it but I'm not sure if thats what u want..

Evolution - really looking forward to the 'minimise to system tray' plugin if you can do it!
I'd also like to see some right-click functionality from the systray icon (such as play, pause, next track, restore window etc).
You have my total (moral only, sorry!) support in this endeavour.
Hopefully Apple (who made this great software - not to mention the reason this site even exists - that is AQUA!) will also address some of these issues in updates. iTunes is now happily my default player.
I'd also like to see some more right-click options (ya get used to those in the windows world!) such as "create new playlist". Lazy I know, but there you have it - have two button mouse, will use! I wonder if/when Apple will ever bow to the two-button mouse? Switching to a Mac now is like using only one arm in a fight!
Having used a Mac since the 512Ke days (and still the proud owner of an SE/30 for nostalgia purposes), it's great to see this little piece of platform cross pollentation. What I'd REALLY like to see is OS X (or OS XI) running on generic hardware. AFter all - anyone can make the body - but as M$ showed, it's the brains that count.
One Happy iUser

hey evolution, i mean that it would always be bottom layer(or window), and be locked in place(you can't drage it). I don't know if you've ever used rainlender or samurize, but they both have these features. Usually the 'lock' feature is seperated from the the 'glue to desktop' feature.
(i think another term may be used to describe this, but i've heard it called gtod before so...)
All the programs i've seen that implement it don't have it so its beneath the icons(i don't think this can be done unless you do it the way your talking about, but then you lose functionality i'm pretty sure).
hopefully its possible for you to do it, but if not, no sweat. ![]()
