Rendezvous Chat For Pc?

well, i've been poking around the internet, and i haven't found anything. What i'm looking for is something that'll allow windows users to chat on rendezvous networks.

does anybody have any insight into a clone program/port/plugin for trillian/miranda/gaim?

TIA,

Felix

Umm... rendevous is just an implementation of ZEROCONF.

Zeroconf (ie. Zero configuration) is just a way to automatically set up a network.

Its a standard network that Windows can connect to (if the implementation uses SAMBA, which OSX's does).

So it has nothing to do with instant messaging, its not a protocol.

For example, Mandrake ships with an implementation of Zeroconf, and there is even a program out there that will do it for Windows.

"iChat also has a nifty thing called "Rendezvous Chat". Rendezvous appears to be Apple's "Internet Operating System" move. Not only do machines detect what network they're plugged into (the magic that had me going Ooooh! at 10.1), they'll now be able to detect services running on other machines on the network. Rendezvous Chat appears to be this for chat--if another Jaguar user is on the network, you can chat with them, share files, etc. through iChat. All automatically discovered for you, by Rendezvous."

technically you're right i'm sure contra, but its still rendezvous chat.

google doesn't give any results sadly

thanks for clarification, fissy. that was what i was referencing. consultra is right about zeroconf being the same thing (essentially) as rendezvous, but i'm looking for something to get on the chat network.

(this post was basically an excuse for me to bump this topic back up)

The answer is NO. Implementations of ZeroConf are generally not compatable, so 2 linux machines could network, or two macs, etc, but not Windows and Mac, unless someone ports Rendevous to Windows, which MS would have to do to make it work well.

My name is CONTRASUTRA, thank you. <_<
