Hello, usually when you put a check to use drop shadows for icon labels it would hide the colored box the text resides in. However, in this case it does not. Does anyone have a reg tweak or solution to this problem? I don't care if it's permanent as I never want the text highlighted as it is. Thanks
You need to enable desktop-transparency or something to that effect.
Look in "Performance Settings" for it.
In performance it's called, "use drop shadows for icon labels" - it does not work anymore.

Did this issue just recently occur with a new msstyle that you are using? Reason I ask, is on some msstyle(s) that I have tried in the past, I would get the same issue except my highlighted box on my desktop labels would be dark, and the font colour would also change too??
What I did to rectify my issue, was to reapply WinXP (Luna) style, and then reboot...then try reapplying the new VS, and see if this adjusts/accepts your performance settings (Advanced) back to normal...
I understand that these annoying (visual) issues can get under one's skin...believe me my friend, I'm the 'King of Reformating'... :woot:
I had that problem once, and i think it dissapeared when i enabled or disabled "Active Desktop"
it might have to do with "lock web items" or something, though i'm not sure, since i don't use active desktop.
if you're running tclock2, there's a setting for transparent text background, but i'll keep looking for a fix.

... but it might lead to the solution:
Any reason why your ClearType isn't enabled? color depth settings issues maybe?
Also, are you running any software to keep icons in any specific way in the desktop (I can't recall the name but there was an app around here to keep icons on the desktop in tile size)?
